2. Safety Instructions
Please read all safety instructions carefully before using the appliance to prevent injury or damage.
- This appliance is for household use only. Do not use outdoors.
- Ensure the voltage rating of the appliance matches your local power supply.
- Do not immerse the appliance, cord, or plug in water or other liquids.
- Unplug from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
- The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.

4. Setup
Follow these steps for the initial setup of your Hipresso DCM2101 coffee maker:
- Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
- Clean: Before first use, wash the carafe, filter basket, and water tank lid with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Placement: Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface, away from the edge of the counter.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet. The display will light up.
- Set Time: When the machine is powered on, the screen lights up to show the time. Use the 'HOUR' and 'MIN' buttons to set the current local time. Press 'PROG' to confirm.
- Initial Rinse Cycle: It is recommended to run a full brewing cycle with only water (no coffee) to clean the internal components. Fill the water tank to the MAX line, place the empty carafe, and start a brew cycle. Discard the water after completion.

5. Operating Instructions
This section guides you through the process of brewing coffee with your Hipresso DCM2101.
- Fill Water Tank: Open the water tank lid and fill the water tank with fresh, cold water using the carafe. Ensure the water level does not exceed the MAX line (12 cups). Note: The amount of water you add will determine the number of cups brewed. If you add water for 4 cups but select 2 cups of coffee beans, the resulting coffee will be diluted.

- Add Coffee Beans or Ground Coffee:
- For Whole Beans: Open the bean container lid and pour whole coffee beans into the container. Adjust the grinding control knob to your desired fineness (9 grades available). Close the lid securely.
- For Pre-Ground Coffee: Ensure the grinder is set to 'GRIND OFF'. Open the filter basket and add your desired amount of pre-ground coffee. Close the filter basket.

- Place Carafe: Ensure the glass carafe with its lid is correctly placed on the warming plate.
- Select Cups: Press the 'CUP' button repeatedly to select the desired number of cups (2-12). This should match the water quantity you added.
- Select Strength: Press the 'STRENGTH' button repeatedly to choose your preferred coffee strength (mild, medium, bold).
- Start Brewing: Press the 'ON/OFF' button once to start the brewing process. The machine will grind beans (if selected) and then begin brewing. The display will show 'BREWING'.
- Enjoy Coffee: Once brewing is complete, the machine will beep, and the display will show 'BREWING COMPLETE'. Carefully remove the carafe and pour your coffee.
Programmable Brewing (24-Hour Timer):
To program the coffee maker to start brewing at a specific time:
- Follow steps 1-3 from the 'Operating Instructions' above (fill water, add coffee, place carafe).
- Press the 'PROG' button. The display will show 'PROG' and allow you to set the desired brew time.
- Use the 'HOUR' and 'MIN' buttons to set the desired start time for brewing.
- Press 'PROG' again to confirm the programmed time. The display will return to the current time, and a small clock icon will appear, indicating the program is set.
- The coffee maker will automatically start brewing at the programmed time.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.
- After Each Use:
- Turn off and unplug the coffee maker.
- Remove the filter basket and discard used coffee grounds. Wash the filter basket and carafe with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Bean Container: Periodically clean the bean container to remove oil residue and old beans. The bean container is detachable for easier cleaning.
- Water Filter: The built-in water filter should be replaced every 2-3 months, or more frequently depending on water hardness and usage. Refer to the filter packaging for specific replacement instructions.
- Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (scale) can build up in the coffee maker. Descale the appliance every 2-3 months using a commercial descaling solution or a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:2 ratio). Follow the descaling product's instructions or run a brew cycle with the descaling solution, then run several cycles with fresh water to rinse.

7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your coffee maker, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Coffee Not Brewing: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged in, the water tank is filled, and the carafe is correctly placed. Check if the filter basket is empty and properly seated.
- Weak Coffee: Increase the coffee strength setting. Ensure you are using the correct ratio of coffee to water. If using whole beans, try a finer grind setting. Descale the machine if it hasn't been done recently.
- Grinder Not Working: Check if the bean container is properly closed and if there are enough beans. Ensure the 'GRIND OFF' setting is not selected if you intend to grind.
