1. Introduction

2. Setup

2.1 Unboxing and Initial Charge

Upon unboxing your HP 970 Programmable Wireless Keyboard, ensure all components are present:

  • USB-A Receiver Dongle
  • USB-C Cable (1.2m)
  • Warranty Card
  • Quick Setup Guide

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the keyboard using the provided USB-C cable. Connect the USB-C end to the keyboard's charging port and the USB-A end to a compatible USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, wall adapter).

2.2 Connecting Your Keyboard

The HP 970 keyboard supports three connection methods: two Bluetooth 5.0 connections and one 2.4GHz wireless connection via the USB-A receiver.

2.2.1 2.4GHz Wireless Connection (USB-A Receiver)

  1. Locate the USB-A receiver dongle. It may be stored in a compartment on the keyboard or included separately in the packaging.
  2. Insert the USB-A receiver into an available USB-A port on your computer.
  3. Turn on the keyboard using the power switch located on the side.
  4. The keyboard should automatically connect to the receiver. The connection indicator light on the keyboard will confirm successful pairing.

2.2.2 Bluetooth Connection

The keyboard can connect to two Bluetooth devices. Use the dedicated Bluetooth toggle keys (labeled 1 and 2) to switch between them.

  1. Turn on the keyboard.
  2. Press and hold one of the Bluetooth toggle keys (e.g., Bluetooth 1) for 3-5 seconds until the indicator light above the key begins to blink rapidly, indicating pairing mode.
  3. On your device (computer, tablet, etc.), navigate to Bluetooth settings and search for new devices.
  4. Select "HP 970 Keyboard" from the list of available devices.
  5. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process.
  6. Repeat for the second Bluetooth connection using the other Bluetooth toggle key (Bluetooth 2) if desired.

Note: For Windows 10 PCs, Microsoft Swift Pair allows for a two-step pairing process. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your PC and the keyboard is in pairing mode. A notification will appear on your PC to connect.

2.3 Installing HP Accessory Center Software

To unlock the full customization features of your keyboard, including programmable keys and advanced backlight settings, download and install the HP Accessory Center (HPAC) software.

  • For Windows: Download from the Microsoft Store.
  • For macOS: Download from the Apple Store.

Once installed, launch HPAC and follow the on-screen instructions to configure your keyboard settings.

3. Operating Your Keyboard

3.1 Switching Between Connected Devices

Once multiple devices are paired, you can easily switch between them using the dedicated toggle keys:

  • Press the USB-A connection toggle key to switch to the device connected via the 2.4GHz USB-A receiver.
  • Press the Bluetooth 1 toggle key to switch to the first Bluetooth-paired device.
  • Press the Bluetooth 2 toggle key to switch to the second Bluetooth-paired device.

The indicator light above the active connection key will illuminate to show which device is currently in use.

3.2 Programmable Keys

The HP 970 keyboard features 24 programmable keys, allowing you to assign custom shortcuts for frequently used applications, functions, or macros. This feature significantly reduces keystrokes and enhances workflow efficiency.
