2. Important Safety Information

  • Electrical Hazard: Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician or a person with a thorough understanding of electrical wiring. Always turn off power at the circuit breaker before installation, servicing, or removing the switch.
  • Neutral Wire Required: This smart switch requires a neutral wire for operation. Please ensure your electrical box has a neutral wire before purchasing and installing.
  • 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Only: The switch only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks. It is not compatible with 5GHz Wi-Fi.
  • Not a Dimmer or 3-Way Switch: This device is a single-pole ON/OFF switch and cannot be used as a dimmer or in a 3-way (multi-location) switch configuration.

5. Installation Guide

Installation Steps:

  1. Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker that controls the light switch you are replacing and turn off the power. Verify the power is off using a voltage tester.
  2. Remove Old Switch: Carefully remove the existing wall plate and unscrew the old switch from the wall box. Before disconnecting any wires, take a photo of the current wiring for reference.
  3. Identify Wires: Use an electrical pencil or voltage tester to identify the Live (Line) wire and Load wire. Identify the Neutral wire (usually white) and Ground wire (usually green or bare copper).
  4. Wire the Smart Switch: Connect the wires from your wall box to the corresponding terminals on the KKCOOL Smart Switch.
    • Line (Live) Wire: Connect to the "L" terminal.
    • Load Wire: Connect to the "L1" or "L2" terminal (for each gang).
    • Neutral Wire: Connect to the "N" terminal.
    • Ground Wire: Connect to the "GND" terminal.
    Ensure all wire connections are secure.
  5. Mount the Switch: Gently push the wired switch into the wall box, ensuring wires are not pinched. Secure the switch with the provided screws.
  6. Attach Faceplate: Snap the faceplate onto the switch.
  7. Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.
  8. Test Manually: Press the physical buttons on the switch to confirm that the lights turn on and off correctly.

6. App Connection and Setup

To unlock the full smart features of your switch, you need to connect it to the "Smart Life" or "Tuya" app.

Steps to Connect to App:

  1. Download App: Download the "Smart Life" or "Tuya" app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Register/Login: Open the app and register for a new account or log in if you already have one.
  3. Enter Pairing Mode: Long press any button on the smart switch for 5-8 seconds until the indicator light starts flashing rapidly (usually 3 times per second). This indicates EZ mode.
  4. Add Device in App: In the "Smart Life" app, tap the "+" icon in the top right corner to add a device. Select "Electrical Switch" or "Wall Switch" from the device list.
  5. Confirm Flashing: Confirm that the indicator light on the switch is flashing rapidly in the app.
  6. Enter Wi-Fi Details: Ensure your mobile device is connected to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Enter your Wi-Fi password in the app.
  7. Connect: The app will begin connecting to the switch. Once connected, you can rename the switch and assign it to a room.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Manual Control

You can always control your lights by physically pressing the touch ON/OFF buttons on the smart switch, just like a traditional light switch.

7.2 Remote Control via App

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app.

  5. Discover devices (Alexa will automatically find your switch).

Pairing with Google Home:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap the "+" icon, then "Set up device" > "Works with Google".
  3. Search for "Smart Life" and select it.
  4. Log in with your "Smart Life" account credentials and link the account.
  5. Assign your switch to a room.
