4. Setup and Assembly

4.1 Charging the Battery

1. Connect the 20V MAX Charger to a standard electrical outlet.
2. Slide the 20V MAX Lithium Ion Battery onto the charger. Ensure it clicks into place.
3. Allow the battery to charge fully before first use. The charger indicator light will change to indicate a full charge. Refer to the charger's specific instructions for detailed light patterns.

4.2 Attaching the Buffer Head

1. Ensure the MATRIX 20V MAX Power Unit is turned off and the battery is removed.
2. Align the buffer attachment with the front of the power unit.
3. Push the attachment firmly onto the power unit until it clicks securely into place. The MATRIX Quick Connect System ensures a tight fit.

4.3 Attaching the Wool Bonnet

1. Once the buffer attachment is secured, center the 6" wool bonnet over the buffer pad.
2. Press the bonnet firmly onto the pad, ensuring it is evenly distributed and securely attached.

5.1 General Operation

1. Ensure the battery is fully charged and securely inserted into the power unit.
2. Apply a small amount of polishing compound or wax directly to the surface to be buffed or to the wool bonnet. Do not over-apply.
3. Place the buffer pad flat against the surface before turning the tool on.
4. Press the trigger to start the buffer. The tool operates at a maximum speed of 3500 RPM.
5. Move the buffer in a slow, overlapping motion across the surface. The random orbital action helps prevent swirl marks.
6. Apply light, even pressure. Avoid pressing down too hard, as this can reduce effectiveness and potentially damage the surface or tool.
7. Release the trigger to stop the buffer.
