1. Product Overview

The Kethvoz 856A is a professional HVAC anemometer designed for accurate measurement of wind speed, air volume (CFM/CMM), and temperature. It features USB data storage and PC connectivity for real-time monitoring and data analysis, making it suitable for various applications including AC system diagnostics, ductwork analysis, and dust collection systems.

3. Setup Instructions

3.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the main unit.
  2. Use the provided screwdriver to open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert the 9V battery, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.

3.2 Connecting the Vane Sensor

  1. Connect the coiled cable from the vane sensor probe to the designated port on the top side of the main anemometer unit.
  2. Ensure the connection is secure.

3.3 Extending the Vane Sensor Probe

The vane sensor probe features an extendable design for reaching measurement points in ducts or elevated areas.

  1. Gently pull the vane sensor head away from the handle to extend the probe.
  2. The probe can extend up to 2 meters.
  3. To retract, gently push the vane sensor head back towards the handle.

3.4 PC Software Installation (Optional)

To utilize data logging and real-time monitoring features, install the provided PC software.

  1. Insert the software CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the customized PC software.
  3. Connect the anemometer to your PC using the supplied USB cable. The USB port is located on the side of the main unit.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

Press the POWER button (center button) to turn the device on or off.

4.2 Changing Measurement Units

  • Wind Speed Units: Press the UNIT button (button 5) to cycle through m/s, km/h, ft/min, knots, and Mph.
  • Temperature Units: Press the °F/°C button (button 6) to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit.

4.3 Selecting Measurement Modes

The anemometer supports various measurement modes for wind speed and air volume.

  • VEL/FLOW Button (Button 1): Toggles between wind velocity and air volume (CFM/CMM) measurement displays.
  • MAX/MIN Button (Button 2): Cycles through Maximum, Minimum, (2/3)Max, and Average readings.
  • HOLD Button (Button 4): Freezes the current reading on the display. Press again to release.

4.4 Air Volume (CFM/CMM) Measurement

To measure air volume, you need to input the cross-sectional area of the duct or opening.

  1. Press the VEL/FLOW button until the display shows air volume (CFM or CMM).
  2. Press the SAMPLE AREA button (button 3) to enter the cross-sectional area. Use the arrow keys to adjust the values and ENTER to confirm.
  3. Position the vane sensor in the airflow. The device will calculate and display the air volume.

4.5 Data Logging and PC Connection

The anemometer can store up to 600 sets of data and connect to a PC for real-time monitoring and export.

  • Recording Data: Press the REC button (button 9) to start recording data. Press again to stop.
  • Viewing Stored Data: Use the READ button (button 8) and arrow keys to browse through recorded data.
  • PC Connection: Connect the device to your PC using the USB cable. Launch the installed software to view real-time data, analyze trends, and export logs.

4.6 Backlight and Auto Shut-off

  • Backlight: Press the LIGHT button (button 7) to turn the display backlight on or off.
  • Auto Shut-off: The device features an automatic shut-off function to conserve battery power after a period of inactivity. This feature can typically be disabled or adjusted via the settings menu (refer to the detailed manual on the CD for advanced settings).

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Wipe the device and vane sensor with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure no moisture enters the device openings.

5.2 Storage

When not in use for extended periods, remove the battery to prevent leakage. Store the anemometer in its protective carrying case in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

5.3 Battery Replacement

When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the 9V battery as described in Section 3.1.
