1. Product Overview

The NetumScan Wireless Barcode Scanner (Model NSL6S-V) is a versatile 2-in-1 automatic USB cordless 1D barcode reader designed for various environments such as stores, supermarkets, and warehouses. Equipped with advanced CCD image scanning technology, it efficiently captures 1D codes from both paper and digital screens.

This scanner is capable of reading various types of 1D barcodes, including UPC A / UPC E, EAN 8 / EAN 13, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, Code 32, Code11, Codabar, Plessey, MSI, Interleaved 2 of 5, IATA 2 of 5, Matrix 2 of 5, Straight 2 of 5, Pharmacode, RSS-14, RSS-14 Expanded, RSS-14 Limited, Composite Code -A, Composite Code -B, and Composite Code. It excels at scanning blurry or damaged barcodes under various lighting conditions.

2. Setup and Connectivity

The NetumScan barcode scanner offers both 2.4G wireless and USB 2.0 wired connection options, providing plug-and-play convenience without complex installation. Simply connect the mini USB receiver to your computer for wireless operation or use the USB cable for a wired connection.

2.1 Compatible Systems

• Operating Systems: Windows, MAC OS, Linux.
• Software Compatibility: Works with Quickbook, Word, Excel, Novell, and most common software applications.

Note: This device requires a USB port for connection and is not compatible with iPads, tablets, or smartphones. It does not support Bluetooth functionality.

3. Operating Modes

The scanner offers three primary scanning modes to suit different operational needs:

• Key Trigger Mode: Press the trigger to initiate a scan.
• Auto-Induction Mode: The scanner automatically detects a barcode within its field of view and scans it without requiring a trigger press. This mode is ideal for hands-free operation when placed on the stand.
• Continuous Mode: The scanner continuously emits a scan beam, allowing for rapid scanning of multiple items without individual trigger presses.

For auto-sensing and continuous scanning, there is no need to pull the trigger. If the self-sensing scanning function appears inactive, please refer to the troubleshooting section or contact support.

3.1 Data Upload Modes

The scanner supports two data upload methods:

• Instant Upload Mode: Barcode data is transmitted directly to your connected device as soon as it is scanned.
• Storage Mode: Barcode data is stored internally in the scanner's memory. This mode is useful when operating out of range of the receiver. The scanner can store up to 10,000 barcodes. Data can be uploaded to your device later by scanning a specific "Memory Data Upload" barcode from the manual.

4. Advanced Features

4.1 CCD Image Scanning Technology

The integrated CCD sensor allows for quick and accurate capture of 1D barcodes from various surfaces, including printed labels and digital displays. This technology ensures reliable scanning even for smudged, damaged, fuzzy, or reflective barcodes, offering superior performance compared to traditional laser scanners.

4.2 Barcode Configuration

The scanner supports editable prefixes or suffixes up to 32 digits. It also has the capability to hide parts of a barcode, allowing for customization to suit specific data entry requirements. Refer to the included programming guide for detailed instructions on configuring these settings.

4.3 Durable Design and Battery Life

Constructed with high-quality ABS material, the scanner features an ergonomic design and is built to withstand repeated drops from up to 2 meters (6.56 ft) onto concrete, ensuring long-term durability. It is equipped with a 2000mAh Lithium Ion battery, allowing for extended periods of continuous scanning.

If you encounter any issues with your NetumScan barcode scanner, please consider the following common solutions:

• Scanner Not Responding:
  • Ensure the scanner is fully charged.
  • Verify the USB receiver is securely plugged into a working USB port on your computer.
  • If using wired mode, ensure the USB cable is properly connected to both the scanner and the computer.
  • Try restarting your computer.
• Scanning Issues:
  • Ensure the barcode is clean and not excessively damaged or smudged.
  • Adjust the distance between the scanner and the barcode. The optimal scanning distance can vary.
  • Check if the correct scanning mode is selected (e.g., if in auto-induction mode, ensure the scanner is positioned correctly).
  • For screen scanning, ensure the screen brightness is adequate and there is no glare.
• Data Transmission Problems:
  • If in wireless mode, ensure the scanner is within range of the USB receiver.
  • If using storage mode, ensure you have scanned the "Memory Data Upload" barcode to transfer stored data.
  • Verify that the application you are scanning into is active and ready to receive input.
• Unwanted Prefixes/Suffixes:
  • Refer to the programming guide to reset or reconfigure prefix/suffix settings.
