5.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the multimeter.
  2. Use a screwdriver to open the battery compartment.
  3. Insert the included 9V (6F22) battery, observing the correct polarity (+ and -).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.

5.2. Test Lead Connection

  • For most measurements (Voltage, Resistance, Capacitance, Frequency, Diode, Continuity, Temperature, and mA/µA Current), insert the red test lead into the "VΩmA Hz" jack and the black test lead into the "COM" jack.
  • For 10A current measurements, insert the red test lead into the "10A" jack and the black test lead into the "COM" jack.

6. Operating Instructions

To begin operation, turn the rotary switch to the desired measurement function. The multimeter will automatically select the appropriate range (auto-ranging).

6.1. Power On/Off

  • To power on, rotate the function switch from "OFF" to any desired measurement function.
  • To power off, rotate the function switch back to "OFF".
  • The multimeter features an Auto Power Off function, which will turn off the device after approximately 15 minutes of inactivity to save battery life.

6.2. Backlight and Data Hold

  • Press the HOLD button briefly to activate the Data Hold function, which freezes the current reading on the display. Press again to release.
  • Press and hold the HOLD button for over 2 seconds to turn the LCD backlight on or off.

6.3. Function Selection (SELECT Button)

In certain rotary switch positions, the SELECT button allows you to toggle between different measurement modes within that function. For example, in the voltage range, you might switch between AC and DC voltage if not auto-detected, or between Diode and Continuity test modes.

6.4. Measurement Functions

6.4.1. DC & AC Voltage Measurement

  1. Set the rotary switch to the V~ (AC Voltage) or V- (DC Voltage) position. The multimeter will auto-range.
  2. Connect the red test lead to the positive (+) side of the circuit and the black test lead to the negative (-) side or ground.
  3. Read the voltage value on the LCD display.

Figure 4: DC & AC Voltage Measurement

This image illustrates the process of measuring DC and AC voltage using the INFURIDER YF-36K multimeter. One multimeter is shown measuring the voltage of a 9V battery, displaying "5.40 V". Another multimeter is shown measuring AC voltage from a wall outlet, displaying "21.30 V".

6.4.2. DC & AC Current Measurement

  1. Set the rotary switch to the A~ (AC Current) or A- (DC Current) position, or the mA/µA position.
  2. For 10A measurements, ensure the red test lead is in the "10A" jack. For mA/µA measurements, ensure the red test lead is in the "VΩmA Hz" jack.
  3. Open the circuit where current is to be measured and connect the multimeter in series with the load.
  4. Read the current value on the LCD display.

6.4.3. Resistance Measurement

  1. Set the rotary switch to the Ω (Resistance) position.
  2. Ensure the circuit is de-energized before measuring resistance.
  3. Connect the test leads across the component to be measured.
  4. Read the resistance value on the LCD display.

6.4.4. Capacitance Measurement

  1. Set the rotary switch to the Cap (Capacitance) position.
  2. Ensure the capacitor is fully discharged before measurement to prevent damage to the multimeter.
  3. Connect the test leads across the capacitor terminals.
  4. Read the capacitance value on the LCD display.

6.4.5. Frequency Measurement

  1. Set the rotary switch to the Hz (Frequency) position.
  2. Connect the test leads across the signal source.
  3. Read the frequency value on the LCD display.

6.4.6. Temperature Measurement

  1. Set the rotary switch to the Temp (Temperature) position.
  2. Insert the temperature probe into the "VΩmA Hz" and "COM" jacks, observing polarity.
  3. Place the tip of the temperature probe on or in the object whose temperature is to be measured.

  1. Set the rotary switch to the Diode position.
  2. Connect the red test lead to the anode and the black test lead to the cathode of the diode.
  3. The display will show the forward voltage drop. Reverse the leads; an open circuit (OL) reading indicates a good diode.

6.4.8. Continuity Test

  1. Set the rotary switch to the Continuity position.
  2. Connect the test leads across the circuit or component.
  3. A continuous beep indicates a complete circuit (low resistance). The display will show the resistance value.

6.4.9. hFE Test (Transistor Test)

  1. Set the rotary switch to the hFE position.
  2. Insert the transistor's emitter, base, and collector leads into the corresponding holes in the hFE socket on the multimeter, ensuring correct NPN or PNP type.
  3. The display will show the hFE value (DC current gain).

7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning

Wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Keep the input terminals free of dirt or debris.
