4. Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the pump's performance and longevity. Follow these steps carefully.

4.1 Mounting

  • Select a secure, dry location for mounting the pump, preferably below the holding tank to aid in gravity feed.
  • Ensure the mounting surface is stable and can support the pump's weight.
  • Use appropriate fasteners to secure the pump firmly.

4.2 Plumbing Connections

Connect the inlet and outlet hoses as follows:

  • Inlet: Connect a 1.5" threaded or 1.5" barbed hose to the pump inlet. Ensure a tight, leak-free connection.
  • Discharge: Connect a 1.0" barbed hose to the pump discharge. Secure with hose clamps.
  • Minimize bends and kinks in hoses to ensure optimal flow.

4.3 Electrical Connections

  • Connect the pump to a 24 Volt DC power source.
  • Ensure correct polarity: Red wire to positive (+), Black wire to negative (-).
  • Install an appropriately sized fuse or circuit breaker in the positive line to protect the circuit. Refer to the specifications section for maximum current draw.
  • All electrical connections must be waterproof and corrosion-resistant.

5. Operation

Follow these guidelines for effective operation of your macerator pump.

5.1 Starting the Pump

  • Ensure all plumbing connections are secure and the holding tank valve is open.
  • Activate the pump via its dedicated switch. The pump is self-priming up to 5 feet, meaning it can draw liquid from a tank slightly below its level.
  • The pump will begin to macerate and discharge waste.

5.3 Stopping the Pump

  • Turn off the pump once the holding tank is empty or the desired transfer is complete.
  • Close the holding tank valve.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your pump.

6.1 Routine Checks

  • Periodically inspect all hose connections for leaks and ensure they are secure.
  • Check electrical connections for corrosion or damage.
  • Ensure the pump mounting is still firm.

6.2 Clearing Clogs (Anti-Clog Feature)

If the pump experiences a clog, use the anti-clog knob to clear it without disassembling the unit:

  1. Disconnect power to the pump.
  2. Locate the anti-clog knob at the end of the pump.
  3. Twist off the end cap.
  4. Manually turn the knob to dislodge any material obstructing the chopper blades.
  5. Replace the end cap securely and reconnect power.

NOTE: Avoid flushing hard objects, sanitary napkins, or rags, as these can cause severe blockages and damage to the pump.
