  • Power Input (BATT+): Connect to the positive terminal of the vehicle's battery using an appropriate gauge power cable and an inline fuse (not supplied, recommended 40A).
  • Ground (GND): Connect to a clean, unpainted metal surface of the vehicle chassis. Ensure a solid electrical connection.
  • Remote Turn-On (REM): Connect to the remote output of your head unit. This wire turns the amplifier on and off with your car's audio system.
  • Speaker Output: Connect your subwoofer(s) to the speaker terminals. Observe correct polarity. The amplifier is 2 Ohm stable.
  • RCA Inputs (LOW LEVEL INPUTS): Connect to the RCA pre-out jacks of your head unit for optimal audio signal.
  • High Level Inputs (SPEAKER LEVEL INPUTS): If your head unit does not have RCA outputs, use the supplied high-level input harness to connect directly to your vehicle's speaker wires.
  • Remote Subwoofer Control Port: Connect the wired remote bass control to this port.

5. Operation and Controls

The R1100M-P amplifier features several controls to fine-tune your audio experience:

  • Low Pass Filter (LPF): This control allows you to set the upper frequency limit for the amplifier's output. Adjust it to match the frequency response of your subwoofer, typically between 50Hz and 150Hz.
  • Bass Boost: Provides an adjustable boost to low frequencies, enhancing bass impact. Use sparingly to avoid distortion.
  • Input Sensitivity (GAIN): Adjust this control to match the output voltage of your head unit. Start with the gain at minimum and slowly increase it until you hear distortion, then back off slightly. This is not a volume control.
  • Remote Subwoofer Control: The wired remote allows for convenient adjustment of the subwoofer output level from the driver's seat.
  • Illuminated Logo: The BOSS logo illuminates when the amplifier is powered on, indicating operational status.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the amplifier's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasives.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the amplifier's cooling fins are free from dust and obstructions to maintain proper heat dissipation.
  • Connections: Occasionally check all wiring connections for tightness and corrosion. Loose connections can lead to performance issues or damage.
  • Fuse Replacement: If the amplifier's fuse blows, replace it only with a fuse of the same type and rating (e.g., 40A ATC fuse). Using an incorrect fuse can cause severe damage or fire.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No Power / Amplifier Not Turning On
  • Blown fuse
  • Loose power or ground connection
  • No remote turn-on signal
  • Vehicle battery discharged
  • Check and replace fuse (same rating)
  • Verify all power and ground connections are secure
  • Check remote wire connection to head unit
  • Charge or replace vehicle battery
No Sound Output
  • Loose RCA or speaker connections
  • Incorrect gain setting
  • Subwoofer wiring error
  • Head unit output issues
  • Check all audio input and speaker output connections
  • Adjust gain setting carefully
  • Verify subwoofer impedance and wiring polarity
  • Test head unit with another amplifier or speakers
Distorted Sound
  • Gain set too high
  • Incorrect LPF or Bass Boost settings
  • Poor quality audio source
  • Speaker impedance mismatch
  • Reduce gain setting
  • Adjust LPF and Bass Boost for optimal sound
  • Use high-quality audio files
  • Ensure subwoofer impedance is within amplifier's stable range (2-8 Ohms)
Amplifier Overheating (Protection Light On)
  • Inadequate ventilation
  • Speaker impedance too low
  • Sustained high volume operation
  • Relocate amplifier or improve airflow
  • Check speaker impedance; ensure it's not below 2 Ohms
  • Reduce volume or allow amplifier to cool down
