To establish a connection between your RC82V remote control and your DIRECTV set-top box (STB), follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the REWIND and FAST FORWARD buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds until the visible LEDs on the remote begin to flash.
  2. Enter the digits 961 using the number keys on the remote, followed by pressing the CH UP key.
  3. Using the number keys, enter the last six digits of the RID number. The RID number is typically located on a label behind or underneath your STB.
  4. Press and release the ENTER key. The green light on the remote will flash twice, indicating successful pairing.

Clearing Pairing

To unpair the RC82V remote from the STB:

  1. Press and hold the DASH (-) and ENTER buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds until the LEDs on the remote flash. The remote control unit (RCU) will then unpair from the STB.
