4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the KE-605A adapter.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert one 9V (6F22) battery, ensuring correct polarity.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
4.2 Connecting to a Digital Multimeter
- Ensure both the KE-605A adapter and your digital multimeter are powered off.

5. Operating Instructions
- After connecting the KE-605A to your multimeter as described in Section 4.2, power on both the multimeter and the KE-605A adapter. The power LED on the adapter should illuminate.
- Select either 'ACA' (AC Current) or 'DCA' (DC Current) on the KE-605A adapter using the slide switch, corresponding to the type of current you wish to measure.
- Open the clamp jaw by pressing the trigger.
- Carefully position the clamp around a single conductor of the circuit you want to measure. Ensure the conductor is centered within the jaw for optimal accuracy. Do not clamp around multiple conductors (e.g., a power cord containing both live and neutral wires), as this will result in a zero or incorrect reading.
- Release the trigger to close the clamp jaw securely around the conductor.
- Read the millivolt (mV) value displayed on your digital multimeter.
- Convert the millivolt reading to Amperes using the conversion factor: 1mV = 1A. For example, if your multimeter displays 24mV, the current is 24 Amperes.
- After measurement, open the clamp jaw and remove it from the conductor. Power off both the adapter and the multimeter.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning

- If your multimeter lacks a 'Relative' function, note the offset reading without current and subtract it from your actual measurement.
- Inaccurate Readings:
- Ensure the conductor is centered within the clamp jaw.
- Verify the multimeter's accuracy and calibration.
- The adapter is designed for currents up to 600A. While it can measure lower currents, its accuracy specification of (2.5% of reading + 5 digits) means that for very low currents (e.g., below 1A), the '5 digits' part of the accuracy can become significant, potentially making it less suitable for precise low-current measurements.
