1. Product Overview

2. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your new espresso machine:

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and place the machine on a stable, level surface. Ensure adequate space around the machine for ventilation and access to components.
  2. Water Tank: Remove the water tank from the side of the machine. Rinse it with fresh water and fill it to the MAX indicator with cold tap water. Reinsert the water tank securely.

  4. Bean Hopper: Open the lid of the bean hopper located on top of the machine. Pour fresh coffee beans into the hopper. Close the lid securely to maintain bean freshness.
  5. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
  6. Initial Rinse Cycle: Place a container under the coffee spout. Press the power button to turn on the machine. The machine will perform an automatic rinse cycle. Allow this cycle to complete before first use.

3. Operating Instructions

The intuitive touch display allows for easy selection and customization of your beverages.

3.1 Making Espresso or Coffee

  1. Place a cup under the coffee spout.
  2. Select 'Espresso' or 'Coffee' from the touch display. You can adjust the coffee strength and volume by tapping the respective icons.
  3. Press the start button. The machine will grind the beans and brew your selected coffee.

3.2 Using the LatteGo System for Cappuccino

  1. Attach the LatteGo milk container to the machine.
  2. Fill the LatteGo container with fresh milk up to the desired level indicated on the container.
  3. Place a cup under the LatteGo spout and coffee spout.
  4. Select 'Cappuccino' from the touch display. You can adjust the coffee strength and milk volume.
  5. Press the start button. The machine will first froth and dispense milk, then brew the espresso into your cup.

4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your machine.

4.1 Cleaning the LatteGo System

The LatteGo system is designed for quick and easy cleaning:

  1. Remove the LatteGo milk container from the machine.
  2. Disassemble the two parts of the LatteGo system.
  3. Rinse both parts under running tap water or wash them in a dishwasher.
  4. Reassemble and reattach the LatteGo system to the machine.

4.2 Drip Tray and Coffee Grounds Container

Empty and clean the drip tray and coffee grounds container daily or when indicated by the machine:

  1. Pull the drip tray forward to remove it. The coffee grounds container is integrated.
  2. Empty the coffee grounds and rinse both components with warm water.
  3. Slide the drip tray back into the machine until it clicks into place.

4.3 AquaClean Filter

The AquaClean filter reduces the need for frequent descaling. Replace the filter when indicated by the machine or approximately every 3 months.

4.4 Descaling

The machine will prompt you when descaling is required. Follow the on-screen instructions and use a Philips-approved descaling solution.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your machine, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Coffee Dispensed: Check if the water tank is filled and correctly inserted. Ensure the coffee beans are present in the hopper.
  • Weak Coffee: Adjust the coffee strength setting on the display to a higher intensity. Check the grinder setting; a finer grind produces stronger coffee.
  • Milk Not Frothing: Ensure the LatteGo system is clean and correctly assembled. Use cold milk (preferably straight from the refrigerator).
  • Indicator Lights: Refer to the specific indicator light patterns on the display for detailed error messages and recommended actions.
