Operating Instructions

1. Preparing the Grill

  • Ensure the grill is clean and free of debris.
  • Open the lid and place charcoal briquettes or lump charcoal onto the charcoal pan.
  • Use a charcoal chimney starter or approved lighter fluid to ignite the charcoal. Allow charcoal to ash over before placing food on grates.

2. Temperature Control

  • Adjustable Charcoal Pan: Use the crank handle on the side of the grill to raise or lower the charcoal pan. Raising the pan brings the charcoal closer to the cooking grates for higher heat, while lowering it reduces heat.
  • Air Vents: The grill features adjustable air vents on the lid and sides. Opening the vents allows more oxygen, increasing heat, while closing them restricts airflow, reducing heat.
  • Built-in Thermometer: Monitor the internal temperature of the grill using the thermometer located on the lid.

Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: After each use, allow the grill to cool completely. Remove the cooking grates and clean them with a grill brush. The pull-out ash tray makes ash disposal easy and convenient. Wipe down exterior surfaces with a damp cloth.
  • Storage: Store the grill in a dry, covered area when not in use to protect it from weather elements.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all nuts and bolts for tightness and re-tighten as necessary. Inspect for any signs of rust or damage and address them promptly.

Troubleshooting

  • Grill is Wobbly: Ensure all assembly bolts and screws are securely tightened. Check that the grill is placed on a flat, stable surface.
  • Lid Does Not Close Properly: Verify that the lid hinges are correctly aligned during assembly. Adjust if necessary. Ensure no debris is obstructing the lid's path.
  • Difficulty Controlling Temperature: Ensure air vents are clear of ash and debris. Adjust both top and bottom air vents in conjunction with the charcoal pan height to achieve desired temperature.
  • Charcoal Not Lighting: Ensure charcoal is dry. Use sufficient lighter fluid or a charcoal chimney starter. Provide adequate airflow by opening vents.
