2. Safety Information, Cautions, and Limitations

Read and understand all safety information before using this respirator. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or death.

Protection

The N95 particulate filter provides at least 95% filter efficiency against non-oil based particulates. It is not intended for use against gases or vapors.

Cautions and Limitations

  • A: Not for use in atmospheres containing less than 19.5% oxygen.
  • B: Not for use in atmospheres immediately dangerous to life or health.
  • C: Do not exceed maximum use concentrations established by regulatory standards.
  • J: Failure to properly use and maintain this product could result in injury or death.
  • M: All approved respirators shall be selected, fitted, used, and maintained in accordance with MSHA, OSHA, and other applicable regulations.
  • N: Never substitute, modify, add, or omit parts. Use only exact replacement parts in the configuration as specified by the manufacturer.
  • O: Refer to user instructions and/or maintenance manuals for information on the use and maintenance of this respirator.
  • P: NIOSH does not evaluate respirators for use as surgical respirators.

User Instructions

  1. Please read the instructions provided in this manual carefully. Any deviation from the instructions provided may greatly reduce or eliminate the overall effectiveness of the respirator which may result in sickness or death.
  2. Before occupational use of this respirator, a written respiratory protection program must be implemented, complying with all the requirements of your country. In the United States, employers must comply with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134, which includes medical evaluation, training, and fit testing.
  3. Leave the contaminated area immediately if you experience any discomfort, dizziness, or other symptoms.
  4. When not in use, store the respirator away from contaminated areas.
  5. Discard used respirators after one use. Disposal of the respirator must be done in accordance with applicable regulations.
  6. Do NOT attempt to modify or use the respirator in ways other than intended.
  7. Do NOT use the respirator with beards or facial hair as it may prevent a good facial seal.
  8. If the respirator becomes damaged, replace with a new one. Excessive clogging of the respirator causes breathing difficulty. The respirator becomes damaged.
  9. Do NOT use the respirator to enter or stay in a contaminated area under the following circumstances:
    • Atmospheres containing aerosols
    • For protection against gases or vapors.
    • Contaminant concentrations are unknown or immediately dangerous to life or health.
    • For sandblasting, paint-spray operations, asbestos.

3. Setup: Fitting Instructions

Proper fitting is essential for the respirator to provide its intended protection. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Step 1: Unfold the Respirator
    Unfold the respirator completely and allow the headbands to hang outward on both sides.
  2. Step 2: Position on Face
    Position the respirator on your face with the adjustable metal nosepiece facing up.
  3. Step 3: Secure Headbands
    Pull the headbands over your head. Place the bottom band below the ears and the top band on the crown of your head.
  4. Step 4: Adjust Nosepiece
    Using both hands, press down on the metal nosepiece to form a tight fit around your nose.
  5. Step 5: Perform Seal Check
    Cover the respirator with both hands. Inhale and exhale vigorously. If air leaks around the edges, adjust the straps and reshape the nosepiece until a proper seal is formed.

4. Operating: Performing a Seal Check

It is critical to perform a seal check every time you wear the respirator to ensure a proper fit and effective protection.

  • Cup both hands around the respirator.
  • Inhale and exhale vigorously.
  • If air leaks around the respirator's edges, adjust the nosepiece and headbands until the leakage is corrected.
  • Once corrected, repeat the seal check again to confirm.

WARNING: This respirator should be used without a proper fit. This respirator helps protect against certain contaminants. It may not eliminate the risk of contracting disease or infection. Misuse may result in sickness or death.
