Thermalright FAN-ARGB HUB-Controller REV.A-D6

Thermalright ARGB Fan Controller User Manual

Model: FAN-ARGB HUB-Controller REV.A-D6

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Thermalright ARGB Fan Controller. This device is designed to expand the Addressable RGB (ARGB) lighting capabilities within your computer system, allowing synchronization of multiple 5V 3-pin ARGB devices through your motherboard's ARGB header.

Important Note: This product is an ARGB lighting hub only. It does not provide fan speed control functionality. Fan speed control must be managed separately through your motherboard or a dedicated fan controller.

2. Product Features

  • High-Performance ARGB Management: Supports up to 10 ARGB devices (5 on each side) for organized cable routing and expanded lighting capabilities.
  • Stable Power Output: Utilizes SATA direct power input to ensure stable and continuous output, even under high load conditions.
  • ARGB Lighting Synchronization: Enables synchronization of 3-pin 5V ARGB devices (fans, light bars) with your motherboard's lighting software.
  • Convenient Installation: Includes strong double-sided adhesive for secure mounting within your PC case.
  • Compact Design: Features a compact size (90 x 46 x 16mm) with a Thermalright engraved logo.

3. Package Contents

  • Thermalright ARGB HUB Controller Rev. A (1 unit)
  • Double-sided adhesive tape (for mounting)

Note: A separate SATA power cable is required and is not included with the product.

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to properly install your Thermalright ARGB Fan Controller:

  1. Prepare the Controller:

Unpack the ARGB Fan Controller and ensure all components are present.

  2. Connect SATA Power:

Connect a SATA power cable from your power supply unit (PSU) to the SATA input port on the ARGB Fan Controller. This provides the necessary power for the ARGB lighting.

  3. Connect to Motherboard ARGB Header:

Locate the 3-pin 5V ARGB header on your motherboard. Connect the ARGB input cable from the controller to this header. This connection allows your motherboard's software to control the lighting effects of all connected ARGB devices.

Caution: Ensure you connect to a 5V 3-pin ARGB header. Connecting to a 12V 4-pin RGB header will damage the controller and connected devices.

  4. Connect ARGB Devices:

Connect your 5V 3-pin ARGB fans, LED strips, or other compatible ARGB devices to the available ARGB output ports on the controller. The controller features 10 ports (5 on each side) for extensive connectivity.

  5. Mount the Controller:

Peel off the protective film from the included double-sided adhesive tape and attach it to the back of the ARGB Fan Controller. Choose a suitable, flat surface within your PC case (e.g., behind the motherboard tray) and firmly press the controller into place.

5. Operating Instructions

Once the Thermalright ARGB Fan Controller is installed and connected, the lighting effects of your connected ARGB devices will be controlled by your motherboard's ARGB software. Refer to your motherboard's manual for specific instructions on how to use its ARGB lighting control software (e.g., ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, ASRock Polychrome Sync).

The controller acts as a signal splitter and power distributor for your ARGB devices, allowing them to receive synchronized commands from the motherboard.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Keep the controller free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth or compressed air to gently clean the surface.
  • Cable Management: Periodically check cable connections to ensure they are secure and not obstructing airflow.
  • Environmental Conditions: Operate the controller within recommended temperature ranges (0°C to 75°C) to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No ARGB Lighting:
    • Ensure the SATA power cable is securely connected to both the controller and the PSU.
    • Verify that the controller's ARGB input cable is correctly connected to a 5V 3-pin ARGB header on your motherboard.
    • Check that all ARGB devices are properly connected to the controller's output ports.
    • Confirm that your motherboard's ARGB software is installed and configured correctly, and that lighting effects are enabled.
    • Ensure no 12V 4-pin RGB devices are connected to the 5V 3-pin ARGB ports, as this can cause damage.
  • Inconsistent Lighting or Flickering:
    • Check all cable connections for looseness.
    • Ensure the total power draw of all connected ARGB devices does not exceed the controller's capacity (1A max per port).
    • Update your motherboard's ARGB software and drivers to the latest version.
  • Controller Not Detected by Software:
    • Verify the ARGB input cable is firmly connected to the motherboard's ARGB header.
    • Restart your computer.
    • Ensure your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI settings have the ARGB header enabled (if applicable).
