6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning the Device
- Regularly use the included blower brush and cleaning cloth to remove dust and debris from the film path and lens area.
- Ensure the device is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
- Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
6.2 Film Preparation
- Before digitizing, it is recommended to run your film in rewind mode first to a pickup reel. This helps clean the film and identify loose or damaged splices.
- Repair any damaged splices before scanning to prevent film jams.
- Avoid scanning moldy, mildewed, decaying, or buckled film, as this can cause jams and damage the film or device.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Film Jams Frequently | Improper film threading; Damaged film (splices, mold, buckle); Film not under all guide points. | Ensure film is threaded correctly under all three guide points. Inspect film for damage and repair splices. Do not force film. |
| No Power | Power adapter not connected; Outlet issue. | Verify power adapter is securely connected to the device and a working electrical outlet. |
| SD Card Not Detected | SD card improperly inserted; Faulty SD card. | Reinsert the SD card correctly. Try a different compatible SD card if available. |
| Poor Video Quality | Incorrect settings (sharpness, brightness); Dirty lens/film path; Poor original film quality. | Adjust sharpness and brightness settings. Clean the lens and film path. Note that original film quality significantly impacts output. |
| Device Turns Off Unexpectedly | Automatic shutdown after inactivity or completion of task. | This is normal behavior after scanning or rewinding is complete. Power on again if needed. |
