Setup

1. Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all parts are present and undamaged. If any parts are missing or damaged, do not proceed with installation and contact your supplier.

2. Tools Required

  • Drill with appropriate drill bits for mounting surface
  • Wrenches or sockets (sizes may vary based on fasteners)
  • Measuring tape
  • Level
  • Pencil or marker
  • Safety glasses and gloves

3. Mounting Instructions

  1. Site Selection: Choose a suitable location on the parapet that provides the desired camera view and structural integrity to support the mount and camera (total weight approximately 20 pounds for the mount alone). Ensure the mounting surface is capable of holding the combined weight and resisting environmental factors.
  2. Positioning: Hold the mount against the chosen surface and use a level to ensure it is plumb. Mark the drilling points for the mounting bolts.
  3. Drilling: Drill pilot holes at the marked locations using the appropriate drill bit for your mounting hardware and surface material.
  4. Secure Mount: Attach the parapet mount to the surface using suitable fasteners (not included). Ensure all bolts are tightened securely to prevent movement. The mount is constructed from aluminum, providing a robust and durable installation.
  5. Camera Attachment: Refer to your PTZ dome camera's instruction manual for specific attachment procedures. Typically, the camera will attach to the top plate of the parapet mount using screws provided with the camera or mount.

Operating

Adjusting the Telescoping Feature

The SBP-156LMW mount features a telescoping design, allowing for height adjustment. To adjust the height:

  1. Loosen Locking Mechanism: Locate the locking mechanism (e.g., set screws or clamps) on the telescoping section of the mount. Loosen these mechanisms sufficiently to allow movement.
  2. Adjust Height: Carefully extend or retract the inner pole to achieve the desired camera height. Ensure the camera cables have sufficient slack to accommodate the adjustment without tension.
  3. Secure Locking Mechanism: Once the desired height is reached, securely tighten the locking mechanism to prevent any slippage or movement of the telescoping section. Verify the mount is stable before leaving the installation.

Maintenance

Regular Inspection and Cleaning

  • Visual Inspection: Periodically inspect the mount for any signs of corrosion, damage, or loose fasteners. Pay close attention to the mounting points and telescoping sections.
  • Cleaning: Clean the exterior of the mount with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the white finish or material.
  • Fastener Check: Annually, or more frequently in harsh environments, check all mounting bolts and locking mechanisms for tightness. Re-tighten as necessary.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions

  • Mount is unstable or wobbly:
    • Ensure all mounting bolts are securely tightened to the parapet.
    • Verify the parapet structure is sound and can adequately support the mount and camera.
    • Check the telescoping locking mechanism for tightness.
  • Telescoping section does not hold position:
    • Tighten the locking mechanism on the telescoping pole firmly.
    • Inspect the locking mechanism for any damage or wear that might prevent it from securing properly.
  • Difficulty attaching camera:
    • Ensure the camera's mounting pattern is compatible with the mount's top plate.
    • Refer to your specific camera's instruction manual for its mounting requirements.
