Initial Winding and Setting

Your watch is equipped with an ORIENT Cal. 40N5A automatic movement, which can be hand-wound and features a hacking mechanism.

1. Unscrew the Crown: If your crown is a screw-down type, rotate it counter-clockwise until it springs out to the first position.
2. Manual Winding: In the first position (normal operating position, unscrewed), rotate the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times to provide an initial power reserve. This will start the watch if it has stopped.
3. Setting the Date: Pull the crown out to the second click position. Rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the date. Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this can damage the movement.
4. Setting the Time: Pull the crown out to the third click position. The second hand will stop (hacking feature). Rotate the crown to set the hour and minute hands. To ensure accuracy, set the time a few minutes ahead and then turn the crown counter-clockwise to align with a reliable time source.
5. Secure the Crown: Once time and date are set, push the crown back in fully. If it's a screw-down crown, push it in firmly while rotating it clockwise until it is securely tightened against the case. This is crucial for maintaining water resistance.

Automatic Movement
