2. Safety Instructions

Always observe basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury.

  • Ensure the voltage indicated on the appliance matches your local mains voltage before connecting.
  • Do not immerse the appliance, power cord, or plug in water or other liquids.

  • Do not touch the hot surface immediately after cooking. The ceramic glass surface may retain residual heat.
  • Use only induction-compatible cookware. Non-magnetic cookware will not heat.

4. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the cooktop from its packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
  2. Placement: Place the induction cooktop on a dry, stable, non-metallic, and heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is at least 10 cm (4 inches) of clear space around all sides for proper ventilation. Do not place it near heat sources or on metal surfaces.
  3. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded 220-240V AC electrical outlet. Ensure the outlet is easily accessible.
  4. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wipe the ceramic glass surface with a damp cloth to remove any dust or residue from manufacturing.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Compatible Cookware

The Tarrington House IC2020ABS Induction Cooktop requires cookware made of ferromagnetic material. To check if your cookware is compatible, hold a magnet to the bottom of the pot or pan. If the magnet sticks, the cookware is suitable for induction cooking.

  • Compatible: Cast iron, enamel iron, stainless steel (most types), flat-bottomed pots/pans with a diameter between 12 cm and 26 cm.
  • Incompatible: Ceramic, glass, aluminum, copper, or non-magnetic stainless steel cookware.

5.2. Basic Operation

  1. Place suitable cookware with food on the center of the ceramic glass surface.
  2. Press the On/Standby button (On/Standby button icon) to turn on the cooktop. The LED display will light up.
  3. The cooktop will automatically start heating at a default power level or temperature.
  4. Use the Heat/Temp (+/-) buttons to adjust the power level or temperature. The LED display will show the current setting.
  5. To turn off the cooktop, press the On/Standby button again. The display will turn off, and the fan may continue to run for a short period to cool down the unit.

5.3. Using the Timer Function

  1. While the cooktop is operating, press the Timer button (Timer button icon). The LED display will show a default time or flash.
  2. Use the Heat/Temp (+/-) buttons to set the desired cooking time (e.g., in minutes).
  3. Once the time is set, the display will revert to showing the power/temperature setting after a few seconds, and the timer will begin counting down.
  4. When the timer expires, the cooktop will automatically switch off and emit an audible signal.

5.4. Booster Function

Press the Booster button (Booster button icon) to activate maximum heating power for a short period, ideal for quickly boiling water or searing food. The Booster function typically has a time limit and will automatically revert to a lower power setting after a few minutes to prevent overheating.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your induction cooktop.

  1. Always unplug the cooktop from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Ceramic Glass Surface: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and a mild detergent. For stubborn stains, use a specialized ceramic hob cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals that can scratch the surface.
  3. Cooktop Body: Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not allow water to enter the ventilation openings.
  4. Ventilation Vents: Periodically check the air intake and exhaust vents for dust or debris. Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner to gently remove any blockages.
  5. Do not immerse the cooktop in water or place it under running water.
  6. Ensure the cooktop is completely dry before plugging it back in and using it.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your induction cooktop, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
