Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your kettle.
Daily Cleaning:
- Always unplug the kettle and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- The removable infuser and lid are dishwasher safe. For manual cleaning, wash with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Do not immerse the kettle body or power base in water or any other liquid.
Descaling:
Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up inside the kettle, especially in hard water areas. This can affect performance and taste. Descale your kettle regularly (e.g., monthly or as needed).
- Fill the kettle with a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar (or a commercial descaling solution according to its instructions).
- Let the solution soak in the kettle for at least 30 minutes, or boil it if the limescale is severe.
- Discard the solution and rinse the kettle thoroughly several times with fresh water to remove any vinegar residue.
- Boil fresh water in the kettle and discard it before using the kettle for beverages.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Kettle does not turn on. | No power supply; kettle not properly seated on base. | Check if the plug is securely in the outlet. Ensure the kettle is correctly placed on the power base. |
| Water is not heating. | Kettle not powered on; lid not closed; insufficient water. | Press the power button. Ensure the lid is securely closed. Fill water above the MIN mark. |
| Kettle boils dry or does not shut off automatically. | Boil-dry protection activated; sensor malfunction; high altitude boiling point variation. | If boil-dry protection activates, allow the kettle to cool before refilling. If at high altitudes, water boils at a lower temperature than 100°C, which may affect the automatic shut-off at the boiling point. Monitor the kettle manually if this occurs. |
| Unpleasant taste or odor in water. | New appliance residue; limescale buildup. | Perform initial cleaning steps again. Descale the kettle as per maintenance instructions. |
| Lid does not close properly. | Obstruction; lid mechanism issue. | Check for any obstructions around the lid. Ensure the infuser is correctly seated if in use. |
