1. Important Safety Instructions

Please read all instructions carefully before using the Hukën Masterchef Electric Coffee Mill. Keep this manual for future reference.

  • Electrical Safety: Ensure the voltage indicated on the appliance matches your local power supply before connecting. Do not immerse the motor base, cord, or plug in water or other liquids.
  • Child Safety: This appliance is not intended for use by children. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children.
  • Operation: Never operate the grinder without the lid securely in place. Do not operate the appliance continuously for more than 30 seconds to prevent overheating. Allow a cooling period between uses.
  • Maintenance: Unplug the appliance from the outlet before cleaning or when not in use. Do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself; contact qualified service personnel.
  • Intended Use: This appliance is designed for grinding dry ingredients such as coffee beans, spices, and herbs. Do not use it for grinding wet, oily, or excessively hard ingredients.

Components:

  • Transparent Lid: Allows visibility of the grinding process and acts as the activation button when pressed.
  • Grinding Chamber: The stainless steel bowl where ingredients are placed for grinding.

3. Setup

Before first use, follow these steps:

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the coffee mill and all packaging materials.
  2. Clean: Wipe the exterior of the motor base with a damp cloth. Wash the transparent lid and grinding chamber with warm, soapy water, then rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Ensure no water enters the motor base.
  3. Placement: Place the grinder on a stable, dry, and flat surface, away from water sources and heat.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Grinding Coffee Beans

  1. Prepare Beans: Ensure coffee beans are dry.
  2. Add Beans: Open the transparent lid and add the desired amount of coffee beans into the grinding chamber. Do not fill above the MAX line (approximately 50 grams).

  1. Secure Lid: Place the transparent lid securely onto the motor base. The grinder will not operate if the lid is not properly seated.
  2. Grind: Plug the grinder into a power outlet. Press down firmly on the transparent lid to activate the grinding mechanism.

  1. Monitor Grind: Observe the grinding process through the transparent lid. Grind for short intervals (e.g., 5-10 seconds) and check the consistency. Repeat until the desired fineness is achieved. For a fine grind, 15-30 seconds of total grinding time (in short bursts) is typically sufficient.
  2. Stop Grinding: Release pressure from the lid to stop the grinding.
  3. Remove Ground Coffee: Unplug the grinder. Carefully remove the lid and pour out the ground coffee.

4.2 Grinding Spices and Other Dry Ingredients

  • Follow the same steps as for grinding coffee beans.
  • Ensure ingredients are completely dry.
  • For strong-smelling spices, consider dedicating the grinder solely for spices or cleaning thoroughly after each use to prevent flavor transfer.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

5.1 Cleaning the Grinder

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee mill.

  1. Unplug: Always unplug the grinder from the power outlet before cleaning.
  2. Empty: Remove all ground material from the grinding chamber.
  3. Clean Lid and Chamber: The transparent lid and grinding chamber can be washed with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before reassembling.
  4. Clean Motor Base: Wipe the exterior of the motor base with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the motor base in water or any other liquid.
  5. Remove Residue: Use a small brush (a clean paintbrush or toothbrush works well) to remove any fine powder residue from around the blades and inside the grinding chamber.
  6. Dry: Ensure all parts are completely dry before storing or next use.

5.2 Storage

Store the coffee mill in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Ensure the lid is securely placed on the grinding chamber.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your coffee mill, refer to the table below for common problems and solutions.
