3.3 Painting and Detailing

5. Maintenance

To maintain the appearance and longevity of your body, follow these guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe clean with a damp cloth after use to remove dirt and debris. Avoid harsh chemicals that may damage the paint or plastic.
  • Storage: Store the body in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading or warping.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the body for cracks or damage, especially after impacts. Repair minor cracks with appropriate polycarbonate repair tape or adhesive to prevent further damage.

6. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your RC body.

  • Body Rubbing Tires: If the body rubs against the tires during suspension travel or steering, check if extended body mounts are needed. Trim wheel wells further if necessary.
  • Body Cracking: Polycarbonate bodies can crack upon impact. For minor cracks, use clear polycarbonate repair tape on the inside of the body. For severe damage, replacement may be necessary.
  • Decals Peeling: Ensure the body surface was clean and dry before decal application. If peeling occurs, re-apply with a strong adhesive or replace the decal.
  • Poor Fitment: Double-check that the body posts are correctly aligned and that the body is designed for your specific short course truck model. Some customization of body post holes may be required.
