3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Fueling the Grill

  • This grill uses charcoal as its fuel source. Use high-quality charcoal for optimal performance.
  • Place charcoal directly into the fire bowl. Do not overfill.
  • To add charcoal during grilling, carefully lift the cooking grate or utilize the hinged sections of the grate for convenient access, minimizing heat loss.

3.2 Lighting the Charcoal

  • Use a charcoal chimney starter or appropriate fire starters to ignite the charcoal. Avoid using lighter fluid directly on hot coals.
  • Allow charcoal to ash over before placing food on the grate for even heat distribution.

3.3 Temperature Control

  • The grill features adjustable air vents on the lid and fire bowl to control airflow and thus, temperature.
  • Opening the vents increases airflow, leading to higher temperatures. Closing them reduces airflow and lowers the temperature.
  • Monitor the built-in lid thermometer to maintain desired cooking temperatures.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning the Grill

  • Ash Catcher: After each use, allow the grill to cool completely. The slide-out ash catcher can be easily removed by pulling it out from beneath the fire bowl. Dispose of ashes safely.
  • Cooking Grate: Clean the chromplated cooking grate with a grill brush after each use, preferably while it is still warm but not hot. For stubborn residue, soak the grate in warm, soapy water.
  • Lid and Fire Bowl: The porcelain-enameled surfaces can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent once the grill has cooled. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the enamel.

4.2 Storage

  • Store the grill in a dry, covered area when not in use, especially during inclement weather or off-season.
  • Consider using a grill cover to protect it from dust, moisture, and UV exposure.

5. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your charcoal grill.

  • Difficulty Lighting Charcoal: Ensure charcoal is dry. Use sufficient fire starters or a charcoal chimney. Check that bottom air vents are fully open to provide adequate oxygen.
  • Temperature Too Low: Verify that both top and bottom air vents are open. Add more charcoal if necessary. Ensure the lid is properly seated to prevent heat escape.
  • Temperature Too High: Partially close the top and/or bottom air vents to reduce airflow. Avoid opening the lid too frequently, as this introduces oxygen and increases temperature.
  • Excessive Smoke: This can occur if charcoal is not fully ashed over before cooking, or if there is too much fat dripping onto the coals. Ensure proper charcoal preparation and manage fat drippings.
  • Ash Spreading: Ensure the ash catcher is correctly installed and securely attached to the fire bowl. Empty the ash catcher regularly to prevent overflow.

If you encounter issues not covered here, please refer to the official User Guide or contact customer service.
