1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the XYGStudy 2.8inch HDMI IPS Capacitive LCD Display (H). This display features a 480x640 resolution, adjustable brightness, and a fully laminated screen. It is designed for use with Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano, and various PC operating systems including Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7.

4. Setup

4.1 Physical Connection

Connect the display to your host device (Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano, or PC) using the provided cables and adapters. The display requires both an HDMI connection for video output and a USB-C connection for touch functionality and power supply.

  • HDMI Connection: Use the HDMI cable and appropriate adapter (C or B) to connect the display's HDMI port to your host device's HDMI output.
  • USB-C Connection (Power & Touch): Connect the USB-A to USB-C cable from a USB port on your host device to the USB-C port on the display. This provides power and enables touch functionality.
  • I2C Connection (Optional Touch): For I2C touch, a configuration file is required. Refer to the manufacturer's resources for specific instructions. The USB-C port can still be used for power.

4.2 Driver Installation (Touch)

  • USB-C Touch: For most supported operating systems (Raspberry Pi OS, Ubuntu, Kali, WIN10 IoT, Retropie, Windows), the USB-C touch interface is driver-free. Simply connect the USB-C cable.
  • I2C Touch: If using the I2C interface for touch, a specific configuration file is required. Please contact XYGStudy via Amazon message for detailed resources and instructions.

4.3 Display Orientation

The default display orientation is portrait (480x640 resolution). To change to landscape orientation, software configuration is required on your host device. Refer to your operating system's display settings or the manufacturer's documentation for specific steps.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

The display powers on automatically when connected to a powered host device via the USB-C cable. To power off, shut down your host device or disconnect the USB-C power cable.

5.2 Touch Control

The display features a capacitive touch screen that supports up to 5-points of simultaneous touch input. The touch functionality is enabled via the USB-C connection. Ensure the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the display and your host device.

5.3 Adjusting Brightness

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Display

To clean the display screen, gently wipe it with a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn smudges, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a screen-safe cleaning solution. Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive materials, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the screen or internal components.

6.2 Storage

When not in use, store the display in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, consider placing it back in its original packaging to protect it from dust and physical damage.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 No Display Output

  • Ensure the HDMI cable is securely connected to both the display and your host device.
  • Verify that the host device is powered on and configured to output video via HDMI.
  • Check if the display is receiving power via the USB-C connection.
  • Try a different HDMI cable or adapter if available.

7.2 Touch Functionality Not Working

  • Confirm the USB-C cable is firmly connected to both the display and a functional USB port on your host device.
  • For I2C touch, ensure the necessary configuration file has been installed correctly on your host device.
  • Restart your host device.
  • Ensure your operating system supports the touch functionality of this display.

7.3 Incorrect Display Orientation

  • The default orientation is portrait. To change to landscape, you must adjust the display settings within your host operating system. Consult your OS documentation or the manufacturer's resources for specific instructions on rotating the display output.
