3. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps for quick and easy assembly:

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Verify all components are present.
  2. Assemble Pole: The umbrella pole comes in two sections. Connect the upper pole section (with the canopy) to the lower pole section by aligning the internal spring button with the hole and pushing until it clicks into place.
  3. Secure Base: Insert the assembled umbrella pole into a suitable weighted base (sold separately) or a patio table with an umbrella hole. Ensure the base is heavy enough to support the umbrella, especially in light winds.
  4. Initial Opening: Gently turn the crank handle clockwise to begin opening the canopy. Continue until the canopy is fully extended and taut.

5. Maintenance

Cleaning the Canopy:

To clean the canopy, use a soft brush and a mild soap solution. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to air dry completely before closing or storing. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

Storage:

When not in use for extended periods or during severe weather, it is recommended to close the umbrella and secure it with the attached Velcro strap. For long-term storage, disassemble the umbrella and store it in a dry, protected area to prolong its lifespan.

Windy Conditions:

Always close the canopy during windy conditions to prevent damage to the umbrella and potential injury. Even with a weighted base, strong gusts of wind can cause the umbrella to become unstable.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Umbrella is unstable: Ensure the weighted base is adequate for the umbrella size and filled correctly (if applicable). Make sure the pole is fully inserted and secured in the base or table.
  • Crank mechanism is stiff: Apply a silicone-based lubricant to the moving parts of the crank mechanism. Avoid using oil-based lubricants that can attract dirt.
  • Canopy not opening/closing smoothly: Check for any obstructions or tangled fabric. Ensure the ribs are not bent or damaged.
  • Canopy fading: While the POLYESTER DTY canopy is fade-resistant, prolonged exposure to intense sunlight can eventually cause some fading. Regular cleaning and proper storage when not in use can help minimize this.
