3. Setup

3.1 Charging the Alarm Unit

Before first use, fully charge the alarm unit. Connect the provided USB Type-C cable to the alarm unit and a standard USB power adapter (not included). The charging indicator will show the charging status.

3.2 Installation Methods

The Cruxer Bike Alarm offers three flexible installation methods to suit various vehicle types and preferences.

Method 1: Bracket Mounting

Ideal for cylindrical objects such as seat posts or handlebars with a diameter range of 2.4-4cm. Use the provided screws and nuts to secure the bracket. Ensure the silicone support plates are placed between the bracket and the vehicle surface to prevent scratches.

Method 2: Cable Tie Mounting

Suitable for hidden locations or unconventional places, such as under a seat cushion. Thread the cable ties through the designated slots on the alarm unit's base and secure it firmly to the desired location.

Method 3: Double-sided Adhesive Tape

Ideal for smooth, flat surfaces. Clean the surface thoroughly before applying the double-sided adhesive tape to the back of the alarm unit. Press firmly for a secure bond. This method is best used in conjunction with a cable tie for added security.

4. Operating Instructions

The alarm is controlled via the included remote control. Familiarize yourself with the remote's buttons for optimal use.

4.1 Arming and Disarming the Alarm

  • To Arm: Press the Lock button on the remote control. The alarm will beep once to confirm it is armed.
  • To Disarm: Press the Unlock button on the remote control. The alarm will beep twice to confirm it is disarmed.

4.2 Entering Setting Mode

To adjust sensitivity or volume, you must first enter the setting mode.

  1. Press and hold the Unlock button on the remote control.
  2. The alarm will beep continuously.
  3. The remote control light will turn off, then turn back on.
  4. Release the button once these indicators appear. You are now in setting mode.

4.3 Adjusting Sensing Sensitivity

While in setting mode, you can adjust the alarm's sensitivity.

  • Ensure you are in setting mode (refer to 4.2).
  • Press the Lock button to toggle through the 7 adjustable sensitivity levels (ranging from high to low).
  • Each press will change the sensitivity. Select the desired level.

4.4 Switching Alarm Tone

You can choose from 3 different alarm tones.

  • Ensure the alarm is in the disarmed state.
  • Press the Thunder button (lightning bolt icon) on the remote control to toggle through the tones.
  • The available tones are: 1. Electric vehicle horn, 2. Horn sound, 3. Bird chirping.

4.5 Changing Volume Level

While in setting mode, you can adjust the alarm's volume.

  • Ensure you are in setting mode (refer to 4.2).
  • Press the Bell button (bell icon) on the remote control to toggle through the 3 adjustable volume levels.
  • The levels are: Low (90dB), Middle (100dB), High (110dB).

4.6 Locating Your Vehicle

The remote control can also be used to locate your vehicle within its maximum range.

  • Press the Search button (magnifying glass icon) on the remote control.
  • The alarm unit will emit a sound, helping you locate your vehicle from a distance of up to 70 meters (229 feet).

5. Maintenance

5.1 Battery Care

  • Recharge the alarm unit when the battery indicator shows low power or when the alarm's performance diminishes.
  • Avoid fully draining the battery frequently to prolong its lifespan.
  • Store the alarm in a cool, dry place if not in use for extended periods, and charge it periodically.

5.2 Cleaning and Storage

  • Wipe the alarm unit with a soft, damp cloth to clean. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Despite its IP54 rating, avoid submerging the alarm in water.
  • Ensure the USB charging port cover is securely closed to maintain water resistance.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Alarm Not Responding to Remote

  • Check the battery in the remote control. Replace if necessary.
  • Ensure the alarm unit is charged.
  • Verify that you are within the remote's operating range (up to 70 meters).
  • Obstructions or strong electromagnetic interference can affect signal. Try moving closer or to a different location.

6.2 False Alarms

  • Adjust the sensitivity level to a lower setting (refer to 4.3). High sensitivity may trigger alarms from minor vibrations like strong winds or passing vehicles.
  • Ensure the alarm is securely mounted and not loose, which could cause false triggers.

6.3 Low Alarm Volume

  • Check the volume setting and increase it to a higher level (refer to 4.5).
  • Ensure the alarm unit's speaker is not obstructed.
  • Charge the alarm unit. Low battery can affect volume output.
