Lunderg Early-Alert Bed Alarm Pad Instruction Manual

Model: UPC-LUN-SENSORPAD

1. Introduction

The Lunderg Early-Alert Bed Alarm Pad is designed to assist caregivers by providing timely alerts when an individual begins to exit their bed. This system utilizes patented Pre-Alert Smart Technology to detect the process of standing up, aiming to notify caregivers before a fall occurs. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your bed alarm pad.

2. Safety Information

  • This product is intended as an aid for caregivers and should not replace direct supervision.
  • Ensure the pad is placed correctly to prevent false alarms or product malfunction. Refer to the "Setup" section for proper placement.
  • Keep the pad and its components away from liquids to avoid damage, although the pad is designed to be incontinence resistant.
  • Do not attempt to modify or repair the device. Contact customer support for assistance.
  • Dispose of batteries according to local regulations.

3. Package Contents

The Lunderg Early-Alert Bed Alarm Pad package includes:

  • 1 x Lunderg Early-Alert Bed Alarm Pad (10 x 30 inches)
  • 1 x AA Battery (pre-installed or included separately)

Note: A wireless pager alarm unit is NOT included with this product. It must be purchased separately or as part of a full kit to receive notifications.

4. Setup

Follow these steps to properly set up your Lunderg Early-Alert Bed Alarm Pad:

  1. Battery Installation: If the AA battery is not pre-installed, open the battery compartment on the pad's connector and insert the provided AA battery, ensuring correct polarity.
  2. Pad Placement: Place the bed sensor pad on top of a flat mattress or mattress cover. Ensure the side labeled "THIS SIDE MUST FACE UP" is visible.
  3. Secure Placement: Position the pad below a fitted sheet. This prevents the pad from moving and helps avoid false alarms or product malfunction.
  4. Connect to Pager (Sold Separately): If you have a Lunderg wireless pager alarm unit, follow its instructions to pair it with the bed alarm pad. The pad transmits a wireless signal to the pager.

5. Operating Instructions

Once properly set up and paired with a Lunderg wireless pager (sold separately), the Early-Alert Bed Alarm Pad operates automatically:

  • Weight Detection: The pad continuously monitors the presence of weight.
  • Pre-Alert Smart Technology: The patented technology detects the subtle shifts and movements that indicate an individual is beginning to stand up from the bed.
  • Alarm Activation: When weight is removed from the pad, or when the Pre-Alert Smart Technology detects the initial stages of standing, a signal is sent to the paired wireless pager unit. The pager will then sound an alarm or vibrate, depending on its settings.
  • Continuous Monitoring: The system remains active as long as the pad is powered and correctly positioned.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: The bed alarm pad is designed to be easy to wipe clean and is incontinence resistant. Use a damp cloth with mild soap and water. Do not submerge the pad in water or use harsh chemical cleaners.
  • Battery Replacement: The pad requires 1 AA battery. The typical lifespan of the pad's battery is approximately 15 months. Replace the battery when the low battery indicator on your paired pager unit activates, or if the pad becomes unresponsive. Ensure the battery is inserted correctly.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the pad flat in a cool, dry place. Avoid folding or creasing the pad excessively, as this may damage internal components.
