Always wear a personal flotation device (PFD) when operating the kayak. Ensure you are familiar with basic paddling techniques before venturing into open water.
4.2 Storage Zones
The HO Scout 1 features two double X front and rear bungee storage zones and an open top design, providing ample room for your gear.
- Secure dry bags, coolers, or other equipment under the bungee cords to prevent them from shifting or falling overboard.

The adjustable high-back seat is equipped with two built-in fishing rod holders for hands-free multi-reel fishing.
- Insert your fishing rods into the designated holders.
- Ensure rods are securely placed to avoid loss during movement or when reeling in a catch.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
After each use, especially in saltwater, rinse the kayak thoroughly with fresh water. The waterproof outer skin is designed for less absorption and faster drying.
- Use a mild soap and soft brush if necessary to remove dirt or grime.
- Rinse thoroughly and allow the kayak to air dry completely before deflating and storing.
5.2 Repair Kit
Your HO Scout 1 Kayak includes a PVC repair kit for minor punctures or tears.
- For small punctures, clean the area around the hole, apply adhesive from the kit, and press a patch firmly over the damaged area.
- Allow sufficient drying time as per the repair kit instructions before re-inflating.
- For larger damage, professional repair may be required.
5.3 Storage
When not in use, deflate the kayak and store it in the provided Storage & Carry Backpack. The front-loading, clamshell-style backpack with an oversized opening makes packing and unpacking convenient.
- Ensure the kayak is clean and completely dry before storage to prevent mold or mildew.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Kayak Loses Air
- Check Valves: Ensure all inflation valves are securely closed and free from debris.
- Inspect for Leaks: Inflate the kayak and apply soapy water to the surface. Bubbles will indicate a leak. Use the included PVC repair kit for minor repairs.
- Temperature Changes: Air pressure can decrease in colder temperatures. Re-inflate to the recommended pressure if needed.
6.2 Difficulty Tracking Straight
- Check Fin Installation: Ensure the Leverlock Fin is correctly installed and locked into the fin box.
- Even Inflation: Verify that all chambers are evenly and properly inflated.
