Rittenhouse Annovi Reverberi AR30 Diaphragm Pump and GX160QH Gas Engine Assembly User Manual

Model: AR30-5.5HP

1. Product Overview

This manual provides instructions for the safe and efficient use of the Rittenhouse Annovi Reverberi AR30 Diaphragm Pump and GX160QH Gas Engine Assembly. This unit is designed for various spraying applications, combining an Annovi Reverberi AR30-SP Diaphragm Pump, GIC40 Pressure Regulator, AR1636 Gearbox, and a GX160QH Gasoline Engine with a 3/4" keyed crankshaft. The assembly is largely pre-assembled for ease of installation into your spray unit.

2. Safety Information

Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before operating this equipment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or property damage.

  • Engine Exhaust: The engine produces carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas. Operate only in well-ventilated areas.
  • Fuel Safety: Gasoline is highly flammable. Handle fuel in a well-ventilated area, away from sparks, open flames, or other ignition sources. Do not refuel a hot engine.
  • Moving Parts: Keep hands, feet, and clothing away from moving parts such as the crankshaft, fan, and belts during operation.
  • Hot Surfaces: The engine and pump components can become very hot during operation. Allow the unit to cool before performing maintenance or adjustments.
  • Eye Protection: Always wear appropriate eye protection when operating or servicing the unit.
  • Chemical Handling: When using the pump for spraying chemicals, always follow the chemical manufacturer's safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Proposition 65 Warning: This product can expose you to chemicals including lead and lead compounds, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

3.3 Mounting the Assembly

Mount the pump and engine assembly securely to a stable, level surface on your spray unit. Ensure adequate ventilation around the engine. Use appropriate bolts and hardware to prevent vibration and movement during operation.

3.4 Fuel and Oil Filling

Engine Oil: Before first use, fill the engine crankcase with the recommended engine oil (refer to the GX160QH engine manual for specific oil type and capacity). Do not overfill.

Fuel: Fill the fuel tank with fresh, unleaded gasoline. Do not use E85 or other high-ethanol fuels. Ensure the fuel cap is securely tightened after filling.

Pump Oil: Check the oil level in the AR30-SP pump gearbox. Fill with the recommended pump oil if necessary (consult the Annovi Reverberi AR30 manual for details).

3.5 Connecting Hoses

  • Inlet Hose: Connect a 1" NPT inlet hose from your water source or chemical tank to the pump's inlet port. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent air leaks.
  • Outlet Hose: Connect a 1/2" NPT outlet hose from the pump's outlet port to your spray gun or application equipment.
  • Bypass/Return Hose: Connect a bypass hose from the pressure regulator back to your supply tank. This allows excess flow to return to the tank when the spray gun is closed, preventing over-pressurization.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Pre-Operation Checklist

  • Check engine oil level.
  • Check pump oil level.
  • Ensure fuel tank is adequately filled.
  • Verify all hose connections are secure and free of leaks.
  • Ensure the water source or chemical tank is full.
  • Confirm the area is well-ventilated.

4.2 Starting the Engine

  1. Open the fuel valve (if applicable).
  2. Move the choke lever to the "CHOKE" position (cold engine start).
  3. Move the throttle lever to the "FAST" position.
  4. Pull the recoil starter handle firmly until the engine starts.
  5. Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the "RUN" position.
  6. Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes before engaging the pump.

4.3 Adjusting Pressure and Flow

The GIC40 Pressure Regulator controls the output pressure of the pump.

  • To increase pressure, turn the regulator knob clockwise.
  • To decrease pressure, turn the regulator knob counter-clockwise.
  • Monitor the pressure gauge (if equipped) to set the desired operating pressure.
  • The maximum operating pressure is 580 psi. Do not exceed this limit.

4.4 Shutting Down

  1. Release the spray gun trigger to relieve pressure.
  2. Move the throttle lever to the "SLOW" or "IDLE" position.
  3. Turn the engine switch to the "OFF" position.
  4. Close the fuel valve (if applicable).
  5. Disconnect hoses and drain any remaining liquid from the pump and hoses, especially before storage.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your pump and engine assembly. Always ensure the engine is off and cooled before performing any maintenance.

5.1 Engine Maintenance (GX160QH)

  • Oil Change: Change engine oil after the first 20 hours of operation, then every 50-100 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Refer to the engine manual for specific intervals and oil type.
  • Air Filter: Inspect and clean the air filter regularly, especially in dusty conditions. Replace if damaged.
  • Spark Plug: Inspect and clean the spark plug annually. Replace if worn or fouled.
  • Fuel Filter: Inspect and clean or replace the fuel filter as needed.

5.2 Pump Maintenance (AR30-SP)

  • Oil Change: Change pump oil after the first 50 hours, then every 500 hours or annually. Use recommended pump oil.
  • Diaphragm Inspection: Periodically inspect the diaphragms for wear or damage. Replace as necessary.
  • Valve Inspection: Check inlet and outlet valves for proper seating and cleanliness.
  • Winterization: Before storing in freezing temperatures, flush the pump with an antifreeze solution to prevent damage.

5.3 General Maintenance

  • Keep the unit clean and free of debris.
  • Check all fasteners for tightness.
  • Inspect hoses and fittings for wear, cracks, or leaks.
