1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Malongo EOH Espresso Pod Machine. This machine is designed to provide a high-quality espresso experience using eco-friendly natural paper pods. Manufactured in France, the EOH machine combines efficiency with sustainability. Please read this manual carefully before first use to ensure proper operation and maintenance.

2. Safety Instructions

Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

• Read all instructions before using the appliance.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
• To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid.
• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
• Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner.
• The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
• Do not use outdoors.

4. Product Overview

Familiarize yourself with the different parts of your Malongo EOH machine:

• Water Tank: Located at the back, it holds the water for brewing.
• Pod Compartment: Where the coffee pod is inserted.
• Brewing Lever: Used to close the pod compartment and initiate brewing.
• Coffee Spout: Where the brewed coffee dispenses.
• Drip Tray: Collects any drips and supports your cup.
• Power Button/Indicator Light: Controls power and indicates machine status.

5. Setup

Follow these steps for the initial setup of your Malongo EOH machine:

1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and ensure all components are present.
2. Clean: Before first use, wash the water tank, drip tray, and grid with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
3. Position: Place the machine on a stable, flat, and heat-resistant surface, away from water sources and heat.
4. Fill Water Tank: Fill the water tank with fresh, cold drinking water up to the MAX level. Do not exceed the maximum fill line.
5. First Rinse Cycle:
   • Plug the machine into a grounded electrical outlet (220-240V / 50Hz).
   • Place a large container (at least 500ml) under the coffee spout.
   • Without inserting a coffee pod, close the brewing lever.
   • Press the brew button to start a cycle. The machine will pump water through the system.
   • Repeat this process 2-3 times to thoroughly rinse the internal components.
   • Discard the water from the container and the drip tray.

6. Operating Instructions

Brewing your favorite espresso with the Malongo EOH machine is simple:

1. Power On: Ensure the machine is plugged in and press the power button. The indicator light will illuminate, possibly blinking while heating up, then become steady when ready.
2. Fill Water Tank: Check that the water tank has sufficient fresh water. Refill if necessary.
3. Insert Pod: Lift the brewing lever to open the pod compartment. Place one Malongo 123 Spresso pod into the compartment, ensuring it is correctly seated.
4. Close Lever: Firmly close the brewing lever. This action pierces the pod and prepares it for brewing.
5. Place Cup: Position your espresso cup or mug on the drip tray directly under the coffee spout.
6. Brew Coffee: Press the brew button. The machine will start extracting coffee.
7. Stop Brewing: The machine will automatically stop when the brewing cycle is complete. You can also manually stop the flow by pressing the brew button again if you prefer a shorter shot.
8. Remove Pod: After brewing, lift the brewing lever. The used pod will automatically drop into the internal used pod container.
9. Enjoy: Your fresh espresso is ready to enjoy.

7. Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Malongo EOH machine.

7.1 Daily Cleaning

• Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray and grid daily or after every few uses.
• Used Pod Container: Empty the used pod container regularly. Wash it with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
• Water Tank: Rinse the water tank daily and refill with fresh water.
• Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

7.2 Descaling

Descaling is crucial to remove mineral deposits that can build up over time, affecting performance and taste. The frequency depends on your water hardness. We recommend descaling every 3-6 months.

1. Prepare Descaling Solution: Use a descaling solution specifically designed for coffee machines. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for mixing with water.
2. Empty Machine: Ensure the water tank is empty, and the used pod container and drip tray are removed.
3. Fill Tank: Pour the descaling solution into the water tank.
4. Run Cycle: Place a large container under the coffee spout. Start a brewing cycle without a pod. Allow about half of the solution to run through.
5. Soak: Turn off the machine and let it sit for 15-20 minutes to allow the solution to work.
6. Complete Cycle: Turn the machine back on and run the remaining solution through.
7. Rinse: Rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh water. Run 2-3 full cycles with fresh water to rinse out any remaining descaling solution.
8. Clean Components: Wash the water tank, drip tray, and used pod container after descaling.
