- When prompted, enter the default login credentials:
Username: admin
Password: admin01 - You will be directed to the WebUI dashboard. It is highly recommended to change the default password immediately for security reasons.
5. Operating Instructions
The RUT300 operates on RutOS, providing a comprehensive set of features for network management.
5.1. Basic Network Configuration
From the WebUI, navigate to the 'Network' section to configure WAN and LAN settings. You can set static IP addresses, enable DHCP server for LAN, and manage DNS settings.
5.2. Firewall Configuration
The RUT300 comes with a preconfigured firewall. You can customize firewall rules, including:
- Port Forwards: Direct incoming traffic to specific devices on your local network.
- Traffic Rules: Control network traffic flow based on various criteria.
- NAT Rules: Manage Network Address Translation.
5.3. VPN Setup
The router supports multiple top-rated VPNs, including OpenVPN. Multiple OpenVPN clients and a server can run simultaneously, offering 12 encryption methods. Refer to the WebUI's 'Services' > 'VPN' section for detailed configuration.
5.4. Network Protocols
The RUT300 supports a wide range of network protocols, including TCP, UDP, IPv4, IPv6, ICMP, NTP, DNS, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP (planned), SMTP, SSL v3, TLS, ARP, PPPoE, UPNP, SSH, DHCP, Telnet, client, SNMP (planned), MQTT (planned), and Wake on LAN (WOL) (planned).
5.5. VoIP Passthrough
The device includes H.323 and SIP-alg protocol NAT helpers, ensuring proper routing of VoIP packets for voice communication services.
5.6. Connection Monitoring

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your RUT300 router.
6.1. Firmware Updates
Periodically check the Teltonika Networks website for the latest firmware updates. Keeping your device's firmware up-to-date ensures you have the latest features, security patches, and performance improvements. Firmware updates can typically be performed via the WebUI.
6.2. Cleaning
Clean the device's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the housing or internal components. Ensure ventilation slots are free from dust accumulation.
6.3. Resetting to Factory Defaults
If you encounter persistent issues or forget your login credentials, you can reset the device to its factory default settings using the reset button. Locate the reset button on the side of the device (refer to Figure 3.4). With the device powered on, press and hold the reset button for approximately 10-15 seconds until the status LEDs indicate a reset sequence. Warning: This action will erase all custom configurations.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your RUT300 router.
7.1. No Power
- Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the router and a working power outlet.
- Verify that the power outlet is functional by plugging in another device.
- Check the power adapter for any visible damage.
7.2. No Internet Connection
- Verify that the Ethernet cable from your internet source is securely connected to the WAN port.
- Check the status of your internet service provider's connection (e.g., modem status lights).
- Access the WebUI (192.168.1.1) and check the WAN status. Ensure it's configured correctly (DHCP client, static IP, etc.).
- Restart the router and your internet source (modem/upstream router).
7.3. Cannot Access WebUI
- Ensure your computer is connected to one of the LAN ports.
- Verify your computer's IP settings. It should be set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP) or have a static IP in the 192.168.1.x range (e.g., 192.168.1.100) with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
- Confirm you are typing the correct IP address: 192.168.1.1.
- Try a different web browser.
- If you have forgotten the password, perform a factory reset (refer to Section 6.3).
7.4. Slow Performance
- Check for high network traffic or bandwidth-intensive applications running on your network.
- Ensure all Ethernet cables are in good condition and properly connected.
- Update the router's firmware to the latest version.
- Consider restarting the router.
