Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety information before using the device to ensure safe and effective operation.
- Prolonged over-inflation may cause congestion, swelling, or bruising in some individuals.
- Allow a minimum of 2 minutes between measurements; 20 minutes is recommended. Excessive frequent measurements may restrict blood circulation.
- Do not use this device while connected to any other monitoring equipment on the same limb.
- Consult with your healthcare professional for guidance if you have an intravascular shunt or have undergone a mastectomy on the arm corresponding to the measurement side of the body.
- Consult with your healthcare professional before using the device during pregnancy, including cases of pre-eclampsia, or if diagnosed with arrhythmia or arteriosclerosis.
- If you experience any discomfort or an abnormality occurs, stop using the device immediately. To stop the device during operation, press the START/STOP button, and the cuff will automatically deflate.
Setup
1. Battery Installation
The SmartHeart Blood Pressure Monitor requires two AAA batteries (included). Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device. Open the cover, insert the batteries according to the polarity indicators (+/-), and close the cover securely.

2. Initial Setup (Date and Time)
Upon first use or after battery replacement, you may need to set the date and time. Refer to the detailed instructions provided in the Quick Start Guide or the full User Manual for specific steps on setting these parameters using the 'SET' button.
Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for accurate blood pressure measurement:
- Prepare for Measurement: Rest your elbow on a solid surface with your palm facing upward. Elevate your arm so that the cuff is at the same level as your heart. Ensure the cuff is at the proper level; you may use a folded towel or book to support your hand. Relax your left hand.
- Apply the Cuff: The wrist cuff is designed for easy application. Ensure it fits adult wrists between 5.5" and 7.6". If your wrist size is outside this range, an arm-style monitor may be more appropriate.
- Start Measurement: Press the START/STOP button to turn the unit on. The unit will perform a self-test.
- Inflation and Reading: You will observe the numbers increasing on the screen, and a heart icon will flash during measurement as the cuff inflates. The monitor utilizes Advanced Inflation Technology, taking your reading during cuff inflation for faster measurement and reduced compression time.
- View Results: Once the measurement is complete, your blood pressure (systolic and diastolic) and pulse rate will be displayed simultaneously on the screen.
- Interpret Results: The Hypertension Indicator will show your reading range on the display, aligning with globally accepted World Health Organization standards. If an irregular heartbeat is detected during the reading, the Irregular Heartbeat Detector icon will appear.
- Memory Storage: The reading will automatically be stored in memory. The device features 2-person memory banks, each storing up to 60 measurements, with date/time stamps and the average of the last three readings.
- Turn Off: Press the START/STOP button to turn the unit off and conserve battery life. The unit will also automatically shut off after a period of inactivity.

Maintenance
Cleaning the Device
To clean the monitor, gently wipe the display and exterior with a soft, dry cloth. For the cuff, use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap if necessary, then wipe dry. Do not immerse the device or cuff in water. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
Storage
Store the blood pressure monitor in its provided storage case when not in use. Keep it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and humidity. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your SmartHeart Blood Pressure Monitor, refer to the following common solutions:
- No Display/Power Issues: Check if the batteries are inserted correctly with the correct polarity. Replace old batteries with new AAA batteries.
- Inaccurate Readings:
- Ensure the cuff is applied correctly and positioned at heart level.
- Remain still and quiet during measurement. Excessive movement can affect accuracy.
- Avoid taking measurements immediately after exercise, bathing, eating, or consuming caffeine/alcohol. Rest for at least 5 minutes before measuring.
- Verify your wrist size is within the recommended range (5.5" – 7.6").
- Error Messages: If an error code appears on the display, consult the detailed User Manual for specific interpretations and solutions. Often, re-applying the cuff and re-taking the measurement resolves temporary errors.
- Irregular Heartbeat Icon Appears Frequently: While the device detects irregular heartbeats, it is not a diagnostic tool. If this icon appears consistently, consult your healthcare professional.
