1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Honeywell HPA080 HEPA Air Purifier. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the appliance and retain it for future reference.

The Honeywell HPA080 is designed to provide cleaner, fresher air in medium-sized rooms. It features HEPA filtration to capture microscopic airborne allergens and particles, an intelligent air quality sensor, and an automatic cleaning mode.

2. Product Features

  • HEPA Filtration: Captures up to 99.97% of microscopic airborne allergens and particles as small as 0.3 microns, including dust, pollen, pet dander, dust mite debris, and smoke.
  • Air Quality Indicator: Continuously monitors indoor air quality and provides real-time feedback via a color-coded display.
  • Auto Mode: Automatically adjusts the filtration level based on detected air quality.
  • Multiple Cleaning Levels: Offers 4 intuitive cleaning levels, including a Turbo setting for rapid air purification.
  • Effective Air Circulation: Independently tested and AHAM Verifide to circulate and filter room air up to 4.8 times per hour in a 100 sq. ft. room, or 1 time per hour in a 488 sq. ft. room.
  • Energy Star Certified: Meets strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. EPA.
  • Filter System: Includes a Certified HEPA Filter (Filter G) and an Activated Carbon Pre-Filter (Filter A). Optional Enhanced Odor and VOC T Filters are available separately.

3. Setup Instructions

3.1 Unpacking and Placement

  1. Carefully remove the air purifier from its packaging.
  2. Place the unit on a firm, level, and flat surface. Ensure there are no obstructions to the air intake or output. For optimal performance, maintain at least 6 inches (15 cm) of clearance from walls or furniture.
  3. Do not place the air purifier near heat sources, in direct sunlight, or in areas with high humidity.

3.2 Filter Installation

The Honeywell HPA080 requires the installation of a Pre-Filter and a HEPA Filter. Ensure all plastic packaging is removed from the filters before installation.

  1. Locate the filter access cover on the back of the unit.
  2. Open the cover and remove any pre-installed filters that may have plastic wrapping.
  3. Insert the HEPA Filter (Filter G) into the designated slot. Ensure it is seated correctly.
  4. Insert the Activated Carbon Pre-Filter (Filter A) in front of the HEPA Filter.
  5. If using an optional Enhanced Odor and VOC T Filter, install it in front of the Pre-Filter.
  6. Close the filter access cover securely.

3.3 Power Connection

Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet. The unit is now ready for operation.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Control Panel Overview

4.2 Power On/Off

Press the Power Button (Power icon) to turn the unit on or off.

4.3 Adjusting Cleaning Levels

Press the Fan Speed Button (Fan speed icon) to cycle through the four available cleaning levels. The selected level will be indicated on the control panel.

4.4 Auto Mode

Press the Auto Button (Auto icon) to activate Auto Mode. In this mode, the air purifier will automatically adjust its fan speed based on the detected air quality.

4.5 Air Quality Indicator

The Air Quality Indicator provides visual feedback on your indoor air quality:

  • Green: Good Air Quality
  • Yellow: Moderate Air Quality

4.6 Auto-Off Timer

Press the Timer Button (Timer icon) to set the unit to automatically turn off after a specified duration (e.g., 2, 4, 8 hours).

4.7 Control Panel Dimmer

Press the Dimmer Button (Dimmer icon) to adjust the brightness of the control panel lights.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance, including filter replacement, is crucial for the optimal performance of your air purifier. Always use Genuine Honeywell replacement filters to ensure stated performance and efficiency.

5.1 Filter Replacement

The Filter Check/Reset Lights (Filter check icon) on the control panel will illuminate when it is time to replace the filters.

  • Activated Carbon Pre-Filter (Filter A): Replace approximately every 3 months.
  • HEPA Filter (Filter G): Replace approximately every 12 months.
  • Optional Enhanced Odor and VOC T Filters: Replace as needed, typically every 3 months, depending on usage and environment.

To replace filters:

  1. Turn off and unplug the air purifier.
  2. Open the filter access cover.
  3. Remove the old filters and dispose of them properly.
  4. Install new, genuine Honeywell filters as described in Section 3.2.
  5. Close the filter access cover.
  6. Plug in the unit and press the Filter Check/Reset Light button for 2 seconds until the light turns off, indicating the filter timer has been reset.

5.2 Cleaning the Exterior

Wipe the exterior of the air purifier with a soft, dry cloth as needed. Do not use water, waxes, polish, or any chemical solutions.

6. Troubleshooting

If your Honeywell HPA080 Air Purifier is not operating correctly, please refer to the following common issues and solutions:
