3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

The INFURIDER YF-876 anemometer requires one 3V CR2032 battery for operation.

  1. Locate the circular battery cover on the back of the device.
  2. Use a coin to gently turn the battery cover counter-clockwise to unlock and remove it.
  3. Insert a new 3V CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing upwards.
  4. Replace the battery cover and turn it clockwise with the coin until it is securely fastened. Ensure the waterproof rubber ring is properly seated to maintain water resistance.

3.2 Tripod Mounting

For stable, hands-free operation, the anemometer can be mounted on a standard tripod (not included).

  1. Locate the threaded tripod socket at the bottom center of the anemometer.
  2. Carefully screw a compatible tripod into the socket until it is securely attached.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

Press the I (ON/OFF) button located on the front of the device to turn it on or off. The anemometer is designed with an automatic power-off feature that activates after 8 days of inactivity to conserve battery life.

4.2 Mode Button and Unit Selection

Press the M (Mode) button to cycle through the available wind speed units. The device supports measurements in meters per second (m/s), kilometers per hour (km/h), Knots, and miles per hour (mph). The last selected unit will be saved for future use.

4.3 Display Information

The 2.2-inch LCD screen provides the following information:

  • Current Wind Force: Real-time wind speed measurement.
  • Average Wind Force: The average wind speed over a period.
  • Maximum Wind Force: The highest wind speed recorded during the measurement session.
  • Beaufort Scale Graph: A visual representation of the wind force according to the Beaufort scale.
  • Power Display: An indicator showing the current battery level. A blinking "Please insert new battery" message will appear when the battery is low.

4.4 Wind Measurement

The YF-876 anemometer features a 4-cup rotating rack design that allows for 360-degree wind speed measurement. This means the device does not need to be turned directly into the wind direction to obtain accurate readings.

5. Maintenance

  • Keep the device clean and dry. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or high humidity.
  • Replace the battery promptly when the low power indicator appears on the display to ensure accurate readings and prevent potential damage from battery leakage.
  • Store the anemometer in a safe place when not in use, away from dust and potential impacts, to prevent damage to the wind cups or display.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Device does not power on:
    • Check if the battery is installed correctly with the positive (+) side facing up.
    • Ensure the battery is a fresh 3V CR2032.
    • Verify the battery cover is securely closed.
  • Inaccurate readings:
    • Ensure the wind cups are free from obstructions (e.g., dirt, debris) and rotate smoothly.
    • Check for any visible damage to the wind cups or sensor mechanism.
    • Confirm the device is held steadily and not obstructed during measurement.
  • Display is blank or flickering:
    • Replace the battery with a new 3V CR2032.
    • If the issue persists after battery replacement, contact customer support for further assistance.
