3. Product Overview

3.1 Controls and Ports

  • Display: Large color LCD screen for station information, time, and menu navigation.
  • Power Button: Turns the radio on/off.
  • Mode Button: Switches between DAB, FM, Bluetooth, AUX, and USB modes.
  • Menu Button: Accesses settings and options for the current mode.
  • Scan/Select Knob: Rotary knob for tuning stations, navigating menus, and selecting options (press to confirm).
  • Volume +/- Buttons: Adjusts the audio volume.
  • Preset Buttons: For saving and recalling favorite stations.
  • Telescopic Antenna: Extend fully for optimal radio reception.
  • USB Port: For playing audio from a USB flash drive and charging the device.

4. Setup

4.1 Charging the Battery

  1. Connect the supplied USB charging cable to the DC Input port on the radio.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or a powered USB port.
  3. The battery indicator on the display will show charging status. A full charge provides up to 12 hours of continuous operation.

The radio can be used while charging or powered directly via the USB cable.

4.2 Initial Power On

  1. Extend the telescopic antenna fully for best reception.
  2. Press and hold the Power Button to turn on the radio.
  3. Upon first use, the radio may automatically enter DAB mode and perform an auto-scan for available stations.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Mode Selection

Press the Mode Button repeatedly to cycle through the available modes: DAB, FM, Bluetooth, AUX, and USB.

5.2 DAB Radio Operation

  1. Ensure the antenna is fully extended.
  2. Select DAB mode using the Mode Button.
  3. If this is the first time in DAB mode or if you want to rescan, the radio will automatically perform a full scan for available DAB stations.
  4. Once the scan is complete, the first station (in alphanumeric order) will be selected and begin playing.
  5. Rotate the Scan/Select Knob to browse through the list of available stations. Press the knob to select a station.
  6. If "DAB NO Station!" is displayed, ensure the antenna is extended and try scanning again in a different location.

5.3 FM Radio Operation

  1. Ensure the antenna is fully extended.
  2. Select FM mode using the Mode Button.
  3. To auto-scan for FM stations, press and hold the Scan/Select Knob. The radio will scan and save all found stations.
  4. Alternatively, rotate the Scan/Select Knob to manually tune to a frequency.
  5. Press the Scan/Select Knob to confirm the frequency.

5.4 Saving and Recalling Presets (DAB/FM)

The radio supports saving up to 20 DAB and 20 FM preset stations.

To Save a Preset:

  1. Tune to the desired DAB or FM station.
  2. Press and hold one of the Preset Buttons (e.g., P1, P2, etc.) until the display confirms the station has been saved to that preset number.

To Recall a Preset:

  1. Press the desired Preset Button (e.g., P1, P2, etc.) briefly to switch to the saved station.

5.5 Bluetooth Operation

  1. Select Bluetooth mode using the Mode Button. The display will show "Bluetooth Pairing" or similar.
  2. On your Bluetooth-enabled device (smartphone, tablet, etc.), enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select "YCLZY-DAB" (or similar name) from the list of found devices to pair.
  4. Once paired, you can play audio from your device through the radio's speaker.

5.6 USB Playback

  1. Insert a USB flash drive containing audio files into the USB port.
  2. Select USB mode using the Mode Button.
  3. The radio will automatically begin playing audio files sequentially from the USB drive.
  4. Note: Song selection is not supported; files will play in the order they are stored.

5.7 AUX Input

  1. Connect an external audio device (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone) to the AUX Input port using a 3.5mm audio cable (not included).
  2. Select AUX mode using the Mode Button.
  3. Audio from the connected device will now play through the radio's speaker. Control playback from your external device.

5.8 Alarm Clock and Sleep Timer

The radio features a dual alarm clock and a sleep timer function.

Setting the Alarm:

  1. Press the Menu Button and navigate to the "Alarm" or "System Settings" option.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to set Alarm 1 and Alarm 2, including time, alarm source (DAB/FM radio or buzzer), and volume.
  3. Confirm settings to activate the alarm.

Setting the Sleep Timer:

  1. Press the Menu Button and navigate to the "Sleep Timer" option.
  2. Select the desired duration (e.g., 15, 30, 60 minutes). The radio will automatically turn off after the set time.

5.9 Kitchen Countdown

The radio includes a convenient kitchen countdown timer.

  1. Press the Menu Button and navigate to the "Kitchen Countdown" or "Timer" option.
  2. Use the Scan/Select Knob to set the desired countdown time.
  3. Press the knob to start the countdown. An audible alert will sound when the timer expires.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

  • Always turn off and unplug the radio before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the radio.
  • For stubborn marks, lightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Avoid getting moisture into any openings or ports.

6.2 Battery Care

  • To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
  • If storing the radio for an extended period, charge the battery to approximately 50% and recharge every few months.
  • Do not expose the battery to extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

  • The telescopic antenna may not be fully extended. Extend it completely.
  • Poor DAB signal in your current location. Try moving the radio to a different spot and perform another auto-scan.
  • No DAB stations available in your region.
No sound from speaker.
  • Volume may be too low. Increase volume using the Volume +/- buttons.
  • Headphones might be connected. Disconnect headphones if you want sound from the speaker.
  • Incorrect mode selected. Ensure you are in the correct mode (DAB, FM, Bluetooth, AUX, USB).
  • For Bluetooth, ensure the device is paired and playing audio.
  • For USB/AUX, ensure the external device is playing and its volume is up.
Poor radio reception (DAB/FM).
  • Ensure the telescopic antenna is fully extended and positioned vertically.
  • Move the radio away from other electronic devices that may cause interference.
  • Try repositioning the radio to a location with better signal strength (e.g., near a window).
USB playback not working.
  • Ensure the USB flash drive is properly inserted.
  • Verify that the audio files on the USB drive are in a supported format (e.g., MP3).
  • The radio plays files sequentially; ensure there are playable files on the drive.
Battery drains quickly.
  • Ensure the battery is fully charged before use.
  • High volume levels consume more power.
  • Using Bluetooth or USB playback may consume more power than radio modes.
  • Battery life naturally degrades over time.
