3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Power On/Off
Press and hold the power button on the main control unit to turn the flash on or off. The LCD display will illuminate upon power-on.
3.2 Flash Modes (TTL, M)
Press the MODE button to cycle through available flash modes:
- TTL Mode: (Through-The-Lens) The flash automatically determines the appropriate light output based on the camera's metering system. This is the recommended mode for most users.
- M Mode: (Manual) Allows you to manually set the flash output power. Use the control dial to adjust the power level.
3.3 Flash Ratio Adjustment (A:B)
In TTL mode, you can adjust the flash ratio between the two flash tubes (A and B) to create specific lighting effects. Press the RATIO button and use the control dial to set the desired ratio (e.g., 8:1, 4:1, 1:1, 1:4, 1:8). This allows for emphasizing one side of the subject over the other.

- Remove batteries if the flash will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
- Use high-quality AA alkaline or Ni-MH rechargeable batteries.
- Ensure correct battery polarity during installation.
4.3 Storage
Store the YN24EX in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided protective nylon bag to prevent dust and scratches.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your YN24EX, consider the following common solutions:
- Flash not firing: Check battery levels. Ensure the flash is securely mounted to the camera's hot shoe. Verify camera and flash settings are compatible (e.g., flash enabled in camera menu).
- Incorrect exposure: Adjust FEC (Flash Exposure Compensation) in your camera menu or flash settings. Ensure flash mode (TTL/M) is appropriate for your shooting conditions. Check flash ratio settings.
- Slow recycle time: Replace old batteries with fresh ones or fully charge rechargeable batteries.
- Flash heads not working: Ensure cables are securely connected to the main unit and flash heads.
For persistent issues, consult the comprehensive user manual or contact YONGNUO customer support.
