2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety instructions before installing and operating the Recalma Bicycle Lift. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to property.

  • Maximum Load Capacity: Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 60 kg (132 lbs). Overloading can cause the lift to fail, leading to serious injury or damage.
  • Secure Mounting: Ensure the lift is securely mounted to a sturdy ceiling beam or a properly installed wooden plank capable of supporting the combined weight of the lift and the maximum load.
  • Inspect Before Use: Before each use, inspect all components, including ropes, pulleys, hooks, and mounting hardware, for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Do not use the lift if any part is compromised.
  • Proper Hook Placement: Always ensure the bicycle or item is securely placed within the rubber-coated hooks to prevent slipping.
  • Engage Safety Latch: Always engage the safety latch mechanism after hoisting the item to the desired height to prevent accidental lowering.
  • Clear Area: Keep the area directly below the lift clear of people and obstacles during hoisting and lowering operations.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the lift during operation.

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps carefully to install your Recalma Bicycle Lift. It is recommended to have a second person assist during installation.

  1. Step 1: Determine Mounting Location and Measure.

Identify a suitable location on your ceiling with sturdy wooden beams or joists. The two mounting plates should be positioned directly above where the bicycle's handlebars and saddle will be. Measure the distance between the handlebars and the rear of the saddle of your bicycle to determine the optimal spacing for the mounting plates. Mark these positions on the ceiling.

  2. Step 2: Attach Mounting Plates to Ceiling.

Using the provided wood screws, securely attach the two ceiling mounting plates to the marked positions. Ensure they are firmly fastened into the ceiling beams or a robust wooden plank that is already securely mounted to the ceiling. The plate with the locking mechanism should be positioned closer to where you will operate the rope.

  3. Step 3: Route the Rope Through Pulleys.

Thread the rope through the pulley system as shown in the diagrams. Start by feeding one end of the rope through the pulley on the plate without the locking mechanism, then across to the pulley on the plate with the locking mechanism, and finally down to the hooks. Ensure the rope moves freely through all pulleys.

  4. Step 4: Attach Hooks and Test.

Attach the rubber-coated hooks to the ends of the ropes. Before lifting your bicycle, perform a test lift with a lighter, non-valuable item to ensure the system is installed correctly and operates smoothly. Verify that the safety latch engages properly.

5. Operating Instructions

Operating the Recalma Bicycle Lift is straightforward. Always ensure the area below the lift is clear before hoisting or lowering.

  1. Hoisting Your Bicycle:
    • Position your bicycle directly below the hooks.
    • Carefully place the handlebars into one rubber-coated hook and the saddle into the other. Ensure the bicycle is balanced.
    • Pull the rope downwards to lift the bicycle. The pulley system will make lifting easy.
    • Once the bicycle reaches the desired height, engage the safety latch by pulling the rope to the side and securing it in the locking mechanism. This prevents the bicycle from accidentally lowering.
  2. Lowering Your Bicycle:
    • Gently release the rope from the safety latch.
    • Slowly and steadily release the rope to lower the bicycle to the ground. Maintain control of the rope at all times.
    • Once the bicycle is safely on the ground, remove it from the hooks.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and safe operation of your Recalma Bicycle Lift.

  • Periodic Inspection: Regularly inspect all components (ropes, pulleys, hooks, mounting hardware) for signs of wear, fraying, cracks, rust, or deformation.
  • Cleanliness: Keep the pulleys and rope free from dirt, dust, and debris, which can impede smooth operation. Wipe down metal parts with a damp cloth if necessary.
  • Lubrication: Apply a small amount of silicone spray or light oil to the pulley axles periodically to ensure smooth movement.
  • Rope Replacement: If the rope shows significant signs of wear or fraying, replace it immediately with a rope of similar strength and diameter.
  • Mounting Security: Periodically check the tightness of all mounting screws and bolts. Retighten if necessary.
