2. Safety Information

4.1. Power Connection

4.1.2. Battery Power

- Insert 6 x LR14/C (1.5V) batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. General Operation
- Press the Power button to turn on the unit.
- Press the Mode button repeatedly to select your desired function (CD, Radio, Cassette, USB, AUX).
- Adjust the Volume Control to your preferred listening level.
5.2. Radio Operation (FM)
- Select Radio mode using the Mode button.
- Extend the telescopic antenna for optimal reception.
- Use the Tuning buttons or dial to manually tune to your desired FM station.
- To auto-scan and preset stations: Press and hold the Scan button (if available) or refer to specific instructions for your model's preset function. The unit supports up to 30 preset stations.
5.3. CD Playback
- Select CD mode using the Mode button.
- Open the top-loading CD compartment cover.
- Place a CD (CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3, WMA format) onto the spindle with the label side facing up.
- Close the CD compartment cover securely.
- Press the Play/Pause button to start playback.
- Use the Skip/Search buttons to navigate between tracks.
- Press the Stop button to end playback.
- The unit supports 20 programmable CD track memories. Refer to the programming section (if available) for detailed instructions.
5.4. Cassette Playback and Recording
5.4.1. Playback
- Select Cassette mode using the Mode button.
- Open the cassette deck door.
- Insert a cassette tape with the open edge facing upwards.
- Close the cassette deck door.
- Press the Play button to start playback.
- Use the Fast Forward and Rewind buttons to navigate the tape.
- Press the Stop/Eject button to stop playback and eject the tape.
5.4.2. Recording
- Insert a blank or recordable cassette tape.
- Select the desired source for recording (e.g., Radio, CD, AUX-in).
- Start playback on the source (e.g., play a CD track, tune to a radio station).
- Press the Record button on the cassette deck. The Play button will also engage.
- To stop recording, press the Stop button.
5.5. USB Playback
- Select USB mode using the Mode button.
- Insert a USB flash drive containing MP3/WMA audio files into the USB port.
- The unit will automatically detect and begin playing the audio files.
- Use the Play/Pause and Skip/Search buttons to control playback.
5.6. AUX-in Connection
- Select AUX mode using the Mode button.
- Connect an external audio device (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player) to the 3.5mm AUX-in jack on the unit using an audio cable (not included).
- Start playback on your external device. The audio will be routed through the CXUM53's speakers.
- Adjust the volume on both the CXUM53 and your external device for optimal sound.
5.7. Headphone Connection
To listen privately, plug standard 3.5mm headphones into the headphone jack. The speakers will automatically mute.
