ST2 ST2B
ST2 Brake Module User Manual
Model: ST2B | Brand: ST2
Introduction
The ST2 Brake Module is an innovative device designed to enhance motorcycle safety by improving brake light visibility. It automatically flashes your brake light when deceleration is detected, such as during engine braking or down-shifting, alerting drivers behind you to your reduced speed. This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your ST2 Brake Module.

Safety Information
Please read all safety warnings and instructions carefully before installation and use. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the product, vehicle, or personal injury.
- Ensure the vehicle's ignition is off and the battery is disconnected before beginning installation to prevent electrical shorts or injury.
- Consult a qualified motorcycle technician if you are unsure about any part of the installation process.
- Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated to prevent short circuits and water ingress.
- Mount the module in a location where it is protected from extreme heat, direct impact, and excessive vibration.
- This device is designed to enhance visibility; it is not a substitute for safe riding practices.
Installation Guide
The ST2 Brake Module is designed for universal fit on motorcycles. Follow these steps for proper installation:
Tools Required:
- Wire Strippers/Crimpers
- Electrical Tape or Heat Shrink Tubing
- Multimeter (optional, for verifying connections)
Wiring Diagram:
The ST2 Brake Module has three wires:
- Red Wire: Connect to the positive (+) 12V power source (e.g., switched ignition wire or direct battery connection with an inline fuse).
- Black Wire: Connect to the vehicle's ground (-) or chassis.
- White Wire: Connect to the positive (+) wire of your brake light bulb.

This image shows the compact ST2 Brake Module with its red, black, and white wires, each terminated with a wire tap connector, illustrating the connection points for installation.
Installation Steps:
- Locate Brake Light Wires: Identify the positive (+) and negative (-) wires leading to your motorcycle's brake light. A multimeter can be used to confirm the brake light positive wire (it will show 12V when the brake is applied).
- Disconnect Power: Turn off the motorcycle's ignition and disconnect the battery's negative terminal.
- Connect ST2 Module:
- Connect the Red wire of the ST2 module to a switched 12V power source on your motorcycle. This can often be found near the tail light assembly or fuse box.
- Connect the Black wire of the ST2 module to a reliable ground point on the motorcycle chassis or the brake light's negative wire.
- Connect the White wire of the ST2 module to the positive (+) wire of your brake light bulb. This wire should carry 12V when the brake lever/pedal is pressed.
- Secure Connections: Use the provided wire taps or solder and heat shrink tubing to ensure all connections are secure and waterproof.
- Mount the Module: Use the provided zip ties to securely mount the ST2 Brake Module in a safe, dry location, away from moving parts and excessive heat. Ensure the module is oriented correctly as per any markings (if applicable) for optimal accelerometer performance.
- Reconnect Power: Reconnect the motorcycle's battery negative terminal.
- Test Functionality: Turn on the ignition and test the brake module. Apply the brakes normally to ensure the brake light illuminates. Then, simulate engine braking or down-shifting (e.g., by rolling the motorcycle forward and then abruptly stopping without using the brakes, or by gently rocking it to simulate deceleration) to observe the flashing or steady light behavior.
Operating Instructions
The ST2 Brake Module operates automatically based on detected deceleration. It features two primary modes:
- Flashing Mode: When significant deceleration (engine braking, down-shifting, or rapid slowing without brake application) is detected, the brake light will flash rapidly for a short duration to alert following traffic.
- Steady Mode: If the deceleration is less severe or sustained, the brake light may illuminate steadily, similar to normal brake application, but triggered by deceleration rather than brake pedal input.
The module's proprietary algorithm intelligently determines the appropriate brake light behavior based on real-time motion data.
Maintenance
The ST2 Brake Module is designed to be maintenance-free. However, periodic checks are recommended:
- Connection Check: Periodically inspect all wiring connections to ensure they remain secure and free from corrosion.
- Module Mounting: Verify that the module is still securely mounted and not exposed to excessive vibration or moisture.
- Cleanliness: Keep the module free from excessive dirt or debris, though its waterproof design protects internal components.
Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your ST2 Brake Module, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Brake light does not flash on deceleration. | Incorrect wiring; Insufficient deceleration; Faulty module. | Verify all wiring connections (Red to 12V, Black to Ground, White to Brake Light Positive). Ensure the module is securely mounted and experiencing sufficient deceleration. If issues persist, contact support. |
| Brake light is always on or behaves erratically. | Incorrect wiring; Short circuit; Module malfunction. | Double-check all wiring for shorts or incorrect connections. Ensure the White wire is connected only to the brake light positive. Disconnect and reconnect the battery. If the problem continues, the module may be faulty. |
| Module does not power on. | No 12V power to Red wire; Poor ground connection. | Check the 12V power source for the Red wire using a multimeter. Ensure the Black wire has a solid ground connection. Check for blown fuses in the motorcycle's electrical system. |
