5. Setup

5.1 Charging the Battery

The lithium-ion battery pack is partially charged from the factory. Fully charge the battery before first use.

  1. Connect the charger to a standard power outlet. The charger indicator light will show its status (e.g., red for charging, green for fully charged).
  2. Slide the battery pack onto the charger until it clicks into place.
  3. Allow approximately 80 minutes for a full charge.
  4. Once fully charged, disconnect the charger from the power outlet and remove the battery pack.

5.2 Installing/Removing the Battery Pack

  • To Install: Align the battery pack with the base of the drill handle and slide it in until it clicks securely into place.
  • To Remove: Press the battery pack release button (located at the front of the battery pack) and slide the battery pack out of the handle.

5.3 Installing/Removing Drill Bits and Screwdriver Bits

  1. Rotate the keyless chuck counter-clockwise until the jaws are wide enough to insert the desired bit.
  2. Insert the bit fully into the chuck.
  3. Rotate the keyless chuck clockwise to tighten the jaws securely around the bit. Ensure the bit is centered and firmly held.
  4. To remove, rotate the chuck counter-clockwise and pull the bit out.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Selecting Rotation Direction (Forward/Reverse)

The forward/reverse rotation control switch is located above the trigger.

  • Push the switch to the left for forward (clockwise) rotation, used for drilling and driving screws.
  • Push the switch to the right for reverse (counter-clockwise) rotation, used for removing screws or freeing jammed bits.
  • Set the switch to the center position to lock the trigger and prevent accidental starting. Always lock the trigger when not in use or when changing bits.

6.2 Adjusting Torque Settings

The torque adjustment ring is located behind the chuck. Rotate the ring to select the desired torque setting from 1 to 21, or the drill symbol for maximum torque (drilling mode).

  • Lower numbers (1-5) are for small screws or soft materials.
  • Medium numbers (6-15) are for medium screws or materials.
  • Higher numbers (16-21) are for large screws or harder materials.
  • The drill symbol setting bypasses the clutch for maximum power, suitable for drilling holes.

6.3 Selecting Speed

The two-speed gear control switch is located on top of the drill.

  • Position "1" (low speed) is for screwdriving and applications requiring high torque.
  • Position "2" (high speed) is for drilling and applications requiring faster rotation.

6.4 Operating the Drill Driver

  1. Ensure the battery is fully charged and properly installed.
  2. Select the appropriate bit, torque setting, and speed for your task.
  3. Set the forward/reverse switch to the desired rotation direction.
  4. Hold the drill driver firmly with both hands if necessary, ensuring a stable grip.
  5. Position the bit on the workpiece.
  6. Press the trigger to start the drill. The integrated LED light will illuminate automatically.
  7. Apply steady, even pressure. Do not force the tool.
  8. Release the trigger to stop the drill.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your WESCO drill driver.

  • Cleaning: Keep the ventilation openings of the tool clean to prevent overheating. Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Chuck Maintenance: Periodically clean the chuck jaws to ensure proper gripping of bits.
  • Battery Care:
    • Store battery packs in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
    • Do not store battery packs in a discharged state. Recharge them before storage if they are low.
    • Do not short-circuit the battery terminals.
  • Storage: Store the drill driver, battery, and charger in the provided carry bag in a dry, secure location out of reach of children.
