2.3 Network and Power Connection
The camera is a wired IP camera and requires an Ethernet connection for network access and Power over Ethernet (PoE) or a 12V DC power adapter.
- PoE Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from a PoE-enabled switch or NVR to the camera's Ethernet port.
- DC Power (Optional): If PoE is not available, connect a 12V DC power adapter (not included) to the camera's power input.
- Initial Network Setup: The camera typically comes with a default static IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.108). To access the camera for initial configuration, ensure your computer is on the same subnet (e.g., set your computer's IP to 192.168.1.10).
- Waterproof Connector: Use the provided waterproof connector for the Ethernet cable to protect the connection from environmental elements, especially for outdoor installations.
2.4 Software and App Configuration
Access the camera's web interface via a web browser or use a compatible mobile application (Android/iOS) for full configuration.
- Discover Camera: Use the manufacturer's IP search tool or directly enter the camera's default IP address into a web browser.
- Login: Enter the default username and password (refer to the Quick Start Guide for default credentials). Change these immediately for security.
- Network Settings: Configure the camera's IP address to match your network's scheme (DHCP or a static IP within your network range).
- Time and Date: Set the correct time zone and synchronize the camera's clock.
3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Live View and Recording
Once configured, you can access the live video feed through the web interface, NVR, or mobile app.
- Live View: Select the camera from your device list to view the real-time feed.
- Recording: Configure recording schedules (continuous, motion-triggered, event-based) on your NVR or through the camera's web interface.
- Micro SD Card: The camera supports up to a 512 GB Micro SD card for local storage. Insert the card into the designated slot (usually under a cover) and format it via the camera's settings.
3.2 Motorized Lens Control (Zoom/Focus)
The 2.7mm–12.0mm motorized lens allows for remote adjustment of the field of view and focus.
- Zoom: Use the zoom controls in the web interface or mobile app to adjust the focal length between 2.7mm (wide) and 12.0mm (telephoto).
- Focus: After adjusting the zoom, use the auto-focus or manual focus controls to ensure a clear image.
3.3 Smart AI Features
The camera integrates advanced AI capabilities for enhanced surveillance.
- Motion Detection: Configure detection zones and sensitivity levels to trigger recordings or alerts when movement is detected.
- Smart Object Detection: Differentiate between humans, vehicles, and other objects to reduce false alarms.
- IVS (Intelligent Video System): Set up advanced rules such as tripwire (line crossing) and intrusion detection for specific areas.
3.4 Night Vision
The built-in IR LEDs provide clear black and white video in low-light or no-light conditions.
- Automatic Activation: The camera automatically switches to IR mode when ambient light levels drop.
- IR Distance: Effective night vision range is up to 40 meters (131.23 ft).
4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning the Camera
Regular cleaning helps maintain optimal image quality.
- Lens: Gently wipe the lens with a soft, clean, lint-free cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a lens cleaning solution designed for optics.
- Housing: Clean the camera housing with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
4.2 Firmware Updates
Periodically check the EmpireTech website for firmware updates. Firmware updates can improve performance, add new features, and address security vulnerabilities.
- Download: Download the latest firmware file from the official EmpireTech support page.
- Update Process: Follow the instructions provided with the firmware update. Typically, this involves uploading the file through the camera's web interface. Do not power off the camera during the update process.
4.3 Micro SD Card Management
If using a Micro SD card for storage, regular maintenance is recommended.
- Formatting: Format the Micro SD card periodically through the camera's settings to ensure optimal recording performance and prevent data corruption.
- Replacement: Replace the Micro SD card if it shows signs of degradation or error.
5. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Camera does not power on. | No power supply; faulty cable; PoE issue. | Check power adapter or PoE switch connection. Ensure cables are securely connected. Test with a known working power source. |
| Cannot access camera via network. | Incorrect IP address; network configuration issue; camera on different subnet. | Verify camera's IP address. Ensure your computer is on the same subnet for initial setup (e.g., if camera is 192.168.1.108, set computer to 192.168.1.X). Check network cable and router/switch. |
| Poor image quality at night. | IR LEDs obstructed; insufficient IR illumination; lens dirty. | Ensure no obstructions block the IR LEDs. Clean the camera lens. Verify IR settings in the camera's web interface. |
| Dust inside optic path. | Manufacturing defect or environmental ingress. | Contact EmpireTech customer support for assistance or warranty claim. Do not attempt to disassemble the camera. |
| Motion detection not working or too many false alarms. | Incorrect sensitivity settings; detection zones not configured properly; environmental factors. | Adjust motion detection sensitivity. Refine detection zones to exclude irrelevant areas (e.g., moving trees). Utilize Smart Object Detection and IVS features for more precise event triggers. |
