1. Product Overview

The Godox X2T-S is a versatile TTL wireless flash trigger designed for Sony cameras. It offers comprehensive control over Godox flashes with built-in X wireless radio systems, as well as compatibility with other speedlights and camera shutters via a 3.5mm sync cord. Key features include high-speed sync, multi-flash, manual flash, and flash exposure compensation. The trigger also supports Bluetooth connectivity for app control via the "GodoxPhoto" application on iOS and Android devices.

3. Setup Guide

3.1. Battery Installation

The Godox X2T-S uses two AA batteries (not included). Open the battery compartment cover on the side of the unit and insert the batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Close the cover securely.

3.2. Mounting on Camera

Slide the X2T-S onto your camera's hotshoe. Ensure it is fully seated, then engage the new hotshoe locking mechanism by pushing the lever forward until it clicks into place. This secures the trigger to the camera.

3.3. Powering On/Off

Locate the power switch on the side of the unit. Slide it to the "ON" position to power on the trigger. The LCD screen will illuminate. To power off, slide the switch to the "OFF" position.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Basic Operation

The X2T-S features a large LCD screen displaying current settings for various flash groups. Use the control-wheel and function buttons to navigate and adjust parameters.

4.2. Group and Channel Settings

The X2T-S supports 5 groups (A, B, C, D, E) and 32 channels. Use the dedicated group buttons (A-E) to select and adjust individual groups. Press the "CH" button to change the wireless channel. Ensure your flashes are set to the same channel and group as the trigger for proper communication.

4.3. Bluetooth App Control

Download the "GodoxPhoto" app from your device's app store. Enable Bluetooth on your phone or tablet and on the X2T-S. Pair the devices through the app. Once connected, you can control flash modes, power output, modeling light, and the beep function directly from your mobile device. This is particularly useful for studio setups where the trigger might be hard to reach.

4.4. Flash Modes and Functions

  • TTL Autoflash: Automatically sets flash output for correct exposure.
  • Manual Flash: Allows precise manual control over flash power.
  • Multi Flash (Stroboscopic): Fires a series of rapid flashes for multiple exposures in one frame.
  • High-Speed Sync (HSS): Enables flash synchronization at shutter speeds faster than the camera's native sync speed (up to 1/8000s).
  • Flash Exposure Compensation (FEC): Adjusts flash output in 1/3 stop increments.
  • TCM Function: Converts TTL flash value to manual power output.

4.5. AF Assist Light

The X2T-S features a new AF assist light that uses visible light to aid in focusing in low-light conditions. This light automatically activates when needed.

4.6. Sync Port Usage

The 3.5mm sync cord jack allows the X2T-S to trigger flashes that do not have a built-in Godox X wireless system, or to function as a wired shutter release trigger for compatible cameras.

5. Compatibility

The Godox X2T-S is primarily designed for Sony cameras with MI Shoes (Multi-Interface Shoes). Tested compatible camera models include:

  • Sony Alpha a7, a7R, a7 Mark II, a7R Mark II, a7M3, a7M2, a7RIII
  • Sony Alpha a58, a9, a99
  • Sony ILCE-6000L, a6500
  • Sony a350, DSC-RX10
  • And other Sony series cameras (self-test recommended for untested models).

It can remote control Godox Flashes such as V1, SK300, SK400II, TT350, TT600, TT685, V860II, AD200, AD200pro, AD400pro, AD600BM, AD600B, AD600pro, etc.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the trigger. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and corrosion. Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Hotshoe Contacts: Keep the hotshoe contacts clean and free of debris to ensure reliable connection with the camera.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the official Godox website for firmware updates. Updates can improve performance, add new features, or fix bugs. Use the USB-C port for firmware upgrades.

8. Troubleshooting
