5. Operating Instructions
Operating your COLZER DBC-06B Food Dehydrator is straightforward. Follow these steps for optimal results.

Figure 5.1: A visual guide to the four simple steps for dehydrating food: 1. Wash and slice food, 2. Load food evenly onto the dehydrator trays, 3. Set time and temperature, 4. Wait for completion.
5.1 Preparing Food
- Wash fruits, vegetables, or herbs thoroughly.
- Slice food into uniform pieces to ensure even drying. Thinner slices dry faster.
- Pre-treat certain foods (e.g., apples, bananas) to prevent discoloration, if desired. Common methods include lemon juice or ascorbic acid dips.
5.2 Loading Trays
- Arrange the prepared food in a single layer on the stainless steel trays.
- Do not overlap food pieces, as this will hinder airflow and lead to uneven drying.
- Leave a small space between pieces for optimal air circulation.
- Slide the loaded trays into the dehydrator unit.
5.3 Setting Temperature and Time

Figure 5.2: Detailed view of the COLZER DBC-06B's touch control panel, featuring a digital temperature display and buttons for power, temperature adjustment, and timer settings.
- Ensure the dehydrator is plugged in. The control panel will illuminate.
- Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the unit.
- Press the Temperature button (often indicated by a thermometer icon) to select the desired drying temperature. Use the Up/Down arrows to adjust the temperature. The temperature range is typically 95°F to 194°F (35°C to 90°C).
- Press the Timer button (often indicated by a clock icon) to set the desired drying time. Use the Up/Down arrows to adjust the time. The timer can usually be set from 30 minutes to 72 hours.
- Once temperature and time are set, the dehydrator will begin operating. The display will show the remaining time and current temperature.
5.4 During Dehydration
- Periodically check the food for dryness. Drying times vary based on food type, thickness, and moisture content.
- Rotate trays if you notice uneven drying, though the 3D airflow system is designed to minimize this.
- When the drying cycle is complete, the unit will automatically shut off.
5.5 After Dehydration
- Unplug the dehydrator from the power outlet.
- Allow the unit and trays to cool completely before handling.
- Remove the dried food and store it in airtight containers.
6. Dehydration Guide
The following table provides general guidelines for dehydrating common foods. These are approximate times and temperatures; actual drying times may vary.

| Herbs | Whole leaves or small sprigs | 95 - 105 | 2 - 6 | Crumbly |
Note: For meat products, it is highly recommended to pre-treat by heating to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) before dehydrating to ensure food safety. Always ensure food is completely dry before storage to prevent spoilage.
7. Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning and proper maintenance will extend the life of your dehydrator and ensure hygienic operation.
7.1 Cleaning the Trays

8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your dehydrator, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Dehydrator does not turn on. | Not plugged in; power outlet malfunction; unit not switched on. | Ensure power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet. Press the ON/OFF button. Check circuit breaker. |
| Food not drying evenly. | Overloaded trays; uneven slicing; blocked airflow. | Ensure food is in a single layer with space between pieces. Slice food uniformly. Do not block air vents. Rotate trays if necessary. |
| Drying takes too long. | Temperature set too low; food sliced too thick; high humidity. | Increase temperature (within recommended range). Slice food thinner. Dehydrate in a less humid environment. |
| Food is too brittle/over-dried. | Temperature set too high; drying time too long. | Reduce temperature or drying time for future batches. Check food periodically. |
| Unusual odor or smoke. | Food residue burning; internal malfunction. | Immediately unplug the unit. Clean trays and interior thoroughly. If problem persists, discontinue use and contact customer support. |
If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact COLZER customer support.
