4. Measuring Your RV for Proper Fit

Accurate measurement of your RV is crucial for selecting the correct cover size and ensuring a proper fit. Follow these guidelines:

  1. Determine Length: Measure your RV from the longest two points. This measurement should include bumpers, spare tire, and ladder, but exclude the hitch.
  2. Check Height: ADCO Covers are designed to fit all common vehicle heights. However, for verification, measure the vehicle sidewall height, excluding ground clearance. The cover is designed to accommodate rooftop accessories such as A/C units and vents, so these do not need to be factored into the height measurement.

Ensure your chosen cover size corresponds to your RV's measured length for optimal protection and fit.

5. Setup & Installation

Installing your ADCO motorhome cover requires careful attention to ensure a secure and effective fit. It is recommended to have at least two people for installation due to the size of the cover.

Preparation:

  • Ensure your RV is clean and dry before installation.
  • Remove any sharp objects or protrusions from the RV that could snag or tear the cover.
  • Install the provided 4 RV Gutter Spout Covers onto your RV's rain gutters to prevent wear on the cover.

Installation Steps:

  1. Unroll the Cover: Carefully unroll the cover on a flat surface near your RV. Identify the front and rear of the cover.
  2. Drape Over RV: With assistance, carefully drape the cover over the top of your RV, starting from the front and working towards the back. Ensure the top panel is centered.
  3. Secure with Toss-Unders: Utilize the weighted buckle toss-under system. Throw the weighted end of the straps underneath the RV to the opposite side. Retrieve the weighted end and connect the buckles.
  4. Adjust Slip-Seam Strapping: Once the cover is draped and initial buckles are connected, use the slip-seam strapping system. Cinch the straps at both the top and bottom of the cover to achieve a perfectly snug fit. This system is crucial for preventing wind damage and keeping the cover secure.
  5. Tighten All Straps: Systematically tighten all remaining straps and buckles around the perimeter of the RV cover. Ensure the cover is taut but not overly stretched, allowing for slight movement without flapping in the wind.
  6. Check Fit: Walk around the RV to ensure the cover is evenly distributed and securely fastened. Adjust straps as needed.

6. Usage

The ADCO Designer Series Olefin HD Class C Motorhome Cover is designed for long-term outdoor storage. It provides protection against various environmental elements, including:

  • UV rays, which can cause fading and deterioration of your RV's exterior.
  • Rain, snow, and ice, preventing water damage and accumulation.
  • Dust, dirt, bird droppings, and tree sap, keeping your RV clean.
  • The Olefin HD top panel helps keep the RV cooler by reflecting sunlight.

Ensure the cover remains securely fastened, especially during windy conditions, by regularly checking the tension of the slip-seam strapping system.

7. Maintenance & Care

Proper care will extend the life of your ADCO motorhome cover:

  • Cleaning: If the cover becomes dirty, clean it with mild soap and water. Use a soft brush or sponge. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to air dry completely before folding or storing. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: When not in use, fold the cover neatly and store it in the provided storage bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the cover for any signs of wear, tears, or damage. Address minor issues promptly to prevent them from worsening.
  • Strap Tension: Regularly check and adjust the tension of the straps, especially after strong winds, to ensure the cover remains snug against the RV.

8. Troubleshooting

While the ADCO motorhome cover is designed for durability, some common issues may arise:

Cover Tearing/Wear:

  • Cause: Sharp edges on the RV (e.g., gutters, antennas, ladder rungs), insufficient strap tension allowing flapping, or improper installation.
  • Solution: Ensure all sharp points on the RV are padded or covered before installation. Verify that the gutter spout covers are in place. Tighten all straps using the slip-seam system to prevent excessive movement in windy conditions.

Water Accumulation:

  • Cause: Improper fit or sagging areas where water can pool.
  • Solution: Re-adjust straps to ensure a snug fit across the entire RV. The cover is water-resistant and breathable, designed to shed water, but pooling can occur if not properly tensioned.

Wind Damage:

  • Cause: Loose straps or insufficient tension, allowing the cover to flap excessively.
  • Solution: Ensure the slip-seam strapping system is fully engaged and all buckles are securely fastened and tightened. Regular checks are recommended, especially before anticipated high winds.
