1. Product Overview

3. Setup Instructions

3.1 Physical Installation

  1. Mounting: Secure the camera using the provided mounting plate and screws. Ensure the mounting surface is stable and can support the camera's weight.
  2. Safety Wire: Attach the safety wire to the camera and a secure anchor point to prevent accidental falls.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the AC adapter to the camera's DC IN 24V port and then plug the AC cable into a power outlet.

3.2 Connectivity

The CR-N300 offers multiple connection options for video output and control:

  • IP (RJ-45): Connect an Ethernet cable for network control, video streaming, and IP multi-stream video distribution.
  • HDMI: Use an HDMI cable for UHD 4K at 30p or Full HD at 59.94p video output.
  • SDI: Connect an SDI cable for high-quality Full HD video at 59.94p.
  • USB: Connect a USB cable for Full HD web conferencing.
  • Audio Input: A 3.5mm mini jack mic terminal is available for external audio input.
  • RS-422: A serial RS-422 terminal is provided for connecting third-party controllers.

3.3 Software Installation

For network setup and control, install the Canon Camera Search Tool and Remote Camera Control Application on a Windows or Mac computer. The Canon Webcam Driver can be used to turn the CR-N300 into a PTZ webcam.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On/Off

Connect the AC adapter and cable to power the camera. The power indicator light will illuminate. To power off, disconnect the power supply.

4.2 Pan, Tilt, and Zoom Control

The camera's pan, tilt, and zoom functions can be controlled remotely using the RC-IP100 hardware controller, a web browser interface, or the infrared remote controller. The 20x optical zoom lens allows for detailed framing of subjects.

4.3 Scene Modes

The CR-N300 includes four scene modes to optimize video capture for specific conditions:

  • Portrait: Achieves sharp focus on the subject with a blurred background.

4.4 Advanced Features

  • Auto Tracking: An optional application allows the camera to automatically track a speaker or subject during live events.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Lens: Use a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optical lenses. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Cleaning the Body: Wipe the camera body with a dry, soft cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Ensure no moisture enters the ports.

6. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your CR-N300 camera.

6.1 No Power

  • Ensure the AC adapter and cable are securely connected to both the camera and a working power outlet.
  • Verify the power outlet is functional by testing it with another device.

6.2 No Video Output

  • Check all video cables (HDMI, SDI, USB, IP) for secure connections.
  • Ensure the receiving device (monitor, computer, switcher) is correctly configured to accept input from the camera.
  • Verify the camera's output settings through the web interface or controller.

6.3 Remote Control Issues

  • For IP control, ensure the camera and control device are on the same network and IP settings are correct.
  • For infrared remote, ensure line of sight to the camera's IR receiver and check the remote's battery.
  • Restart both the camera and the control device.

  • Clean the camera lens if the image appears blurry or smudged.
