1. Important Safety Instructions

Please read all instructions carefully before using the Tchibo Let's Brew Filter Coffee Machine. Keep this manual for future reference.

• Do not immerse the appliance, power cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
• Unplug the coffee machine from the electrical outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow it to cool completely before adding or removing parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
• Do not use the appliance outdoors.
• Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of a table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
• Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
• Always ensure the glass carafe is correctly positioned on the warming plate before and during brewing to prevent scalding and spills.
• Scalding may occur if the lid of the carafe is removed during the brewing cycle.
• The warming plate remains hot after brewing. Exercise caution.
• Use the appliance only for its intended purpose of brewing coffee.

3. Setup and First Use

1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Dispose of packaging materials responsibly.
2. Clean Components: Before first use, wash the glass carafe, its lid, and the filter holder with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry. The removable water tank can also be cleaned this way.
3. Placement: Place the coffee machine on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface, away from the edge of the counter. Ensure there is enough space around the machine for proper ventilation.
4. First Rinse Cycle: To clean the internal components and remove any manufacturing residues, perform two brewing cycles using only water. Fill the water tank to the maximum level (1.25 L), place an empty filter paper in the filter holder, and run a full brewing cycle. Discard the water and repeat once more.
5. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet (230 Volts).

4. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to brew a perfect cup of coffee:

1. Fill Water Tank: Remove the water tank from the side of the machine. Fill it with fresh, cold water up to the desired number of cups (max 1.25 L / 10 cups) using the water level indicator. Reinsert the water tank firmly into its position.
2. Insert Filter Paper: Swivel the filter holder out from the front of the machine. Place a new size 4 paper filter into the filter holder.
3. Add Coffee Grounds: Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the paper filter. A common recommendation is 7-8 grams of coffee per cup (approx. 1 tablespoon). Adjust to your taste.
4. Close Filter Holder: Swivel the filter holder back into its closed position. Ensure it is securely latched.
5. Position Carafe: Place the glass carafe with its lid on the warming plate. Ensure it is correctly seated to activate the drip stop mechanism.
6. Start Brewing: Press the power button located on the front of the machine. The indicator light will illuminate, signaling that the brewing process has started. The newly developed brewing head and Aroma Swing feature ensure even saturation of coffee grounds for optimal flavor extraction.
7. Serving: Once the brewing cycle is complete, the machine will automatically switch to a warming function. The warming plate will keep your coffee hot for approximately 40 minutes before the machine automatically shuts off for energy saving. You can remove the carafe at any time during or after brewing, thanks to the drip stop function.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your coffee machine.

5.1 Daily Cleaning

• Always unplug the machine and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
• Remove and discard the used paper filter and coffee grounds.
• Wash the glass carafe, its lid, and the filter holder with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. These parts are generally dishwasher-safe, but hand washing is recommended for best care.
• Wipe the exterior surfaces of the coffee machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
• Clean the stainless steel warming plate with a damp cloth after it has cooled to remove any coffee residue.
• The removable water tank can be rinsed with water daily.

5.2 Descaling

Mineral deposits from water can build up over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your machine regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 1-3 months).

1. Prepare Descaling Solution: Use a commercial descaling agent specifically designed for coffee machines, following the manufacturer's instructions. Alternatively, you can use a solution of white vinegar and water (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).
2. Run Descaling Cycle: Pour the descaling solution into the water tank. Place an empty paper filter in the filter holder and the empty carafe on the warming plate. Start a brewing cycle.
3. Pause (Optional): For heavy scale buildup, you may pause the cycle halfway through and let the solution sit in the machine for about 15-30 minutes before resuming.
4. Rinse Cycles: After the descaling cycle is complete, discard the solution. Fill the water tank with fresh, clean water and run at least two full brewing cycles with only water to thoroughly rinse the machine. This removes any residual descaling agent.
