Setup
Initial Power On
To power on the BTR5-2021, press and hold the power button for approximately 3 seconds until the FiiO logo appears on the display.
Connecting as a USB DAC for Android Devices
The BTR5-2021 can function as a USB DAC for Android devices. Follow these steps:
- Turn on the BTR5-2021.
- Connect the BTR5-2021 to your Android device using the included Type-C to Type-C cable or another compatible C to C adapter (e.g., FiiO LT-TC1).
- When a USB connection is detected, the BTR5-2021 will automatically prompt you to turn on "USB Audio Adapter" mode. Press any button on the BTR5-2021 within 15 seconds to disable charging and enter this mode. If no action is taken, charging will remain active. This pop-up can be disabled via the FiiO Control App.
- Play a music file on your Android device. The sampling rate displayed on the BTR5-2021 will update accordingly.

Connecting to Two Bluetooth Devices Simultaneously
The BTR5-2021 supports simultaneous connection to two Bluetooth devices. However, avoid simultaneous playback from both devices to prevent audio stuttering.
- Enable Bluetooth on both Device A and Device B.
- Turn on the BTR5-2021 by holding the power button for about 3 seconds. The display will show 'FiiO'.
- Enter pairing mode by holding the multifunction button for about 5 seconds. The display will show 'PAIRING'.
- On Device A, search for and connect to the BTR5-2021.
- Disconnect the BTR5-2021 from Device A (it will show 'disconnected'). Then, turn off the BTR5-2021 by holding the power button for about 3 seconds.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 to turn on the BTR5-2021 and enter pairing mode. On Device B, search for and connect to the BTR5-2021.
- Return to Device A and tap BTR5-2021 to reconnect it.
Using as a DAC for Computers (Windows/MacBook)

Using as a USB DAC for Mobile Phones (General)
While most mobile phones support the FiiO Music App, USB audio standards vary. The BTR5-2021 supports "USB Audio Adapter Mode." When connected via USB, it will prompt you to activate this mode. Press any button to disable charging and enter this mode.
- Android phones: Use the included Type-C to Type-C cable.
- iPhone/iPad: Use a Lightning to Type-C cable (e.g., FiiO LT-LT1, sold separately for standard edition).
Operating Instructions
MQA Functionality
The BTR5-2021 supports MQA rendering, allowing for high-resolution, master-quality sound. When used with compatible music applications, it can achieve up to 16x MQA unfolding. The display will show "MQA" when the function is active.

Using aptX HD/LDAC
To utilize high-quality Bluetooth codecs like aptX HD or LDAC, ensure your transmitting device (e.g., smartphone) supports these codecs. You may need to select the corresponding codec in your phone's developer options or Bluetooth settings. Consult your phone manufacturer for specific instructions.
FiiO Control App
The FiiO Control App provides full access to the BTR5-2021's functions, including adjustable equalizer and presets.
- Update the FiiO Control App to the latest version (available on the FiiO website).
- In the app, go to Settings > "Bluetooth device control" and tap on BTR5-2021 to establish a connection.

Note: When using LDAC, the equalizer cannot be adjusted during music playback.

Maintenance
Resetting a Frozen Device
If the BTR5-2021 becomes unresponsive or frozen, press and hold the Power button for at least 10 seconds to perform a reset.
Clearing Pairing Records
To clear all Bluetooth pairing records, turn on the BTR5-2021, then simultaneously press and hold the Volume '+' and Volume '-' buttons for approximately 5 seconds.
Troubleshooting
Audio Stuttering with Multiple Bluetooth Devices
While the BTR5-2021 can connect to two devices simultaneously, playing music from both devices at the same time may cause audio stuttering. Avoid simultaneous playback.
USB Charging Pop-up Dialog
If you prefer not to see the "USB Audio Adapter" mode pop-up dialog every time the BTR5-2021 connects to USB, you can turn this function off via the FiiO Control App in the Status menu under "Pop-up dialog for USB charging."
