1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and efficient operation of your Philips DVT1120 VoiceTracer Audio Recorder. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device and retain it for future reference. The Philips DVT1120 is designed for clear audio recording with 8 GB of built-in memory and an extra-long battery life.

3. Device Overview

Familiarize yourself with the buttons and ports on your VoiceTracer.

3.1 Controls and Functions

  • Display Screen: Shows recording status, battery level, time, and file information. Note: This model does not feature a backlight.
  • Record Button (Red Dot): Press to start recording.
  • Stop Button (Square): Press to stop recording or playback.
  • Play/Pause Button (Triangle/Two Vertical Bars): Press to start or pause playback.
  • Skip Forward/Backward Buttons: Navigate between recordings or fast forward/rewind during playback.
  • Folder Button: Access different recording folders (A, B, C, D).
  • Delete Button (Trash Can): Erase selected recordings.
  • Menu Button: Access device settings.
  • Volume Buttons (+/-): Adjust playback volume.
  • USB Port: Connect to a computer for file transfer.
  • Headphone Jack (3.5mm): Connect headphones for private listening.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
  2. Slide the battery compartment cover open.
  3. Insert the two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: The Philips DVT1120 uses disposable AAA batteries and is not rechargeable. Ensure you have fresh batteries for optimal performance.

4.2 Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the Play/Pause button for a few seconds until the display illuminates.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the Stop button for a few seconds until the display turns off.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Recording Audio

  1. Ensure the device is powered on.
  2. Press the Record button (red dot) once to begin recording. The recording indicator will illuminate.
  3. To pause recording, press the Play/Pause button. Press it again to resume.
  4. To stop recording, press the Stop button. The recording will be saved automatically with a time stamp.

5.2 Playback

  1. Navigate to the desired recording using the Skip Forward/Backward buttons.
  2. Press the Play/Pause button to start playback.
  3. Adjust the volume using the Volume +/- buttons on the side of the device.
  4. To stop playback, press the Stop button.

5.3 File Management

The DVT1120 organizes recordings into four folders: A, B, C, and D. You can switch between these folders using the Folder button.

5.3.1 Deleting Recordings

  1. During playback or when a recording is selected, press the Delete button (trash can icon).
  2. Confirm your selection if prompted.

5.3.2 Connecting to a Computer

The device features 8 GB of built-in memory for storing numerous recordings.

  1. Connect the VoiceTracer to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
  2. The device will be recognized as a removable storage device (USB drive).
  3. You can then drag and drop files to and from the device.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Care: Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting
