3. Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure your system is powered off and unplugged from the wall outlet. Handle the motherboard by its edges to avoid static discharge.

3.1. CPU Installation

  1. Locate the LGA 1155 socket on the motherboard.
  2. Press the wire buckle by hand and lift it up. Do not remove the black protective cover before installing the CPU.
  3. Align the CPU with the socket. The CPU has three bayonets (notches) that correspond to the socket. Carefully place the CPU into the socket, ensuring it sits flush without force.
  4. Lower the wire buckle and secure it to lock the CPU in place. The black cover will pop up automatically.

Important CPU Handling Precautions:

  • Do not open the CPU top cover.
  • Do not touch the CPU pins to contact the core.
  • Do not touch the motherboard interface pins.

3.2. Memory (RAM) Installation

The motherboard features two DDR3 Non-ECC memory slots. Ensure your memory modules are compatible with DDR3 1280/1333/1600/1866MHz frequencies.

  1. Open the clips at both ends of the memory slot.
  2. Align the notch on the DDR3 memory module with the key in the memory slot.
  3. Press down firmly on both ends of the memory module until the clips snap into place.

3.3. Storage Device Installation

The motherboard supports SATA M.2 (NGFF M.2) SSDs and traditional SATA 2.5-inch/3.5-inch drives.

3.3.1. NGFF M.2 SSD Installation

The SATA M.2 (NGFF M.2) interface supports AHCI protocol with transfer rates up to 6Gbps.

  1. Locate the NGFF M.2 slot on the motherboard.
  2. Insert the M.2 SSD into the slot at a slight angle.
  3. Gently push down the SSD and secure it with the provided screw.

3.3.2. SATA Drive Installation

Connect your SATA hard drives or SSDs to the available SATA ports using SATA data cables. The motherboard includes one SATA 3.0 (6Gb/s) port and three SATA 2.0 (3Gb/s) ports.

3.4. Expansion Card Installation

The motherboard provides one PCIe 2.0 x16 slot, one PCIe 2.0 x1 slot, and one PCI slot for expansion cards such as graphics cards, sound cards, or network cards.

  1. Align the expansion card with the desired slot.
  2. Press down firmly until the card is fully seated in the slot and the retention clip (if present) engages.
  3. Secure the card to the chassis with a screw.

3.5. Power Connections

Connect the 24-pin ATX power connector and the 4-pin ATX 12V CPU power connector from your power supply to the corresponding ports on the motherboard.

3.6. Front Panel Connectors

Connect the front panel cables (power button, reset button, HDD LED, power LED, USB ports, audio jacks) to their respective headers on the motherboard. Refer to the motherboard diagram for correct pin assignments.

4.1. First Boot and BIOS Setup

    • Reseat the CPU. Check for any bent pins on the CPU socket (refer to Figure 3.2).
    • If using a dedicated graphics card, ensure it is properly seated and connected to power. Try connecting your monitor to the integrated graphics (VGA/HDMI) if your CPU supports it, to rule out the graphics card as the issue.
    • Clear the CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) by removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes or using the clear CMOS jumper (refer to motherboard diagram for location).
  • Poor Contact Issues: If components like memory, CPU, or graphics card are not making proper contact, gently wipe the metal contacts with an eraser to improve conductivity.
  • Driver Issues: If you experience issues with network, audio, or other peripherals, ensure you have installed the correct and latest drivers. For Windows 10, many drivers are automatically installed.
  • System Instability/Crashes: Ensure your power supply unit (PSU) provides sufficient and stable power for all components. Check for proper cooling of the CPU and other components.
