3. Operating Features

3.1 Voicing Modes

Optimize the speaker's performance with four application-specific voicing modes:

  • Music: Standard mode for general music playback.
  • Speech: Accentuates mids and engages a compressor for clear vocal announcements.
  • Monitor: Rolls off low frequencies to prevent rumble when used as a floor monitor.
  • Sub: Applies a high-pass filter to the speaker's output, sending low frequencies to a connected subwoofer via the 'Thru' output.

3.2 Outdoor Mode

Engage 'Outdoor Mode' to boost frequencies and compensate for sound loss in open-air environments, ensuring optimal projection and sound quality.

3.3 Music Ducking

When activated, 'Music Ducking' automatically lowers the volume of audio playing on Channel 2 (e.g., background music) when a signal is detected on Channel 1 (e.g., a microphone). This allows for clear announcements over music.

3.4 Feedback Eliminator

The 'Feedback Eliminator' feature uses digital processing to identify and apply narrow-band filters to frequencies causing audio feedback, preventing unwanted squealing.

3.5 Front LED Control

The front-panel LED can be enabled or disabled, allowing you to control its visibility to the audience.

4. Battery Management

The Thump GO is equipped with a removable lithium-ion battery, offering significant portability. The battery status is indicated by a tri-color LED on the rear panel:

  • Green: Battery is good (above 20%).
  • Yellow: Battery is getting low.
  • Red: Battery needs to be charged.
  • Off: No battery detected or completely drained.

When plugged into AC power, the battery will charge. If not fully charged, the battery indicator will blink while charging. The swappable design allows for easy replacement of batteries, extending the operational life of the speaker.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Mackie Thump GO loudspeaker, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the speaker. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
  • Storage: Store the speaker in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) to prolong its lifespan.
  • Battery Care: While the battery is removable and replaceable, proper care is essential. Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Recharge it promptly when the indicator shows low charge.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect cables and connections for any signs of wear or damage.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Thump GO loudspeaker, consider the following:

  • No Sound: Check all cable connections, ensure power is on (AC or battery), and verify input levels on the mixer. Confirm Bluetooth is properly paired if streaming wirelessly.
  • Distortion: Reduce input gain levels on the mixer channels and the main volume. Ensure the 'Overload' indicator is not lit.
  • Feedback: Activate the 'Feedback Eliminator' feature. Adjust microphone placement or speaker positioning.
  • Bluetooth Connectivity Issues: Ensure your device's Bluetooth is enabled and the speaker is in 'Pair' mode. Try unpairing and re-pairing the device.
  • Battery Not Charging: Verify the AC power cable is securely connected to both the speaker and a working power outlet. Check the battery indicator light for status.
